I never cheated the coins, use them on the regular and still have over 50.
A terrible idea I have would be to have lunar coins start burning your wallet after you start stockpiling them. Say, when you have more than 10 you get a permanent debuff, the more coins over that threshold, the worse it gets. It'll make not picking the coins automatically a good thing, would force players to mind their stock, would limit how much lunar items you can have in a run and would work with the whole risk/reward thing the lunar items seem to ride on.
But whatever, mods can "fix" anything now, so who really cares right ?
now to the topic i never understand why people need to cheat in every game... even in coop. Hope they get rid of it.
Lunar coin cheating really isn't a mess of a problem. Lunar coins are extra currency you sometimes get, and all you can use it for is items that come with a downside. Some people play the game without ever using lunar coins, because in the end you don't need them for anything, except maybe unlocking a survivor.
The game is excellent, I've dumped 100+ hours into it in a month because it's so fun. Before I cheated, others cheating didn't cause an issue. And after I cheated, it didn't cause an issue either. It's not really a problem, but it's something that will be changed at somepoint in time mostlikely, and I'm just curious what peoples plans are.
I think people will cry and all, but people will cry over anything. For the longevity of this game, they need to remove the cheat, but also make lunar coins more accessable. I think if, once they made the patch to remove cheating, people would be fine. Babies will cry, some will whine. It doesn't matter in the end. If they make coins more easy to get, good players will be able to get many fast in monsoon, and others can grind drizzle to get a ton too.
You'd get annoyed because after your run ends, you're all out of lunar coins and the cheater can do it all over again. :/
Providing a cap would really just ruin the fun for what you call "lunar junkies" and that's it. It wouldn't do anything for anyone else
You're idea doesn't stop cheaters and instead just implements a feature which caps items, and for some people caps fun.
All this idea does is punish EVERYONE. The people that grind for coins can't even use them as they wish, and the people that cheat them in can't use them as they wish either!
1. It doesn't offer an alternative, it makes the game have a hard cap no one benefits from.
2. It does not remove grinding, because non-cheaters still need to grind the same amount.
3. It does limit using OP lunar items, except wouldn't it just be better to nerf OP items???
4. And it does not remove tension between cheaters and non-cheaters, because in the end cheaters still have more lunar coins.
You seem to just be really salty at cheaters and people who use good lunar items (which is really weird for a co-op game), so why not just want the OP items nerfed, and cheating removed? The only truly OP lunar item is Gesture of the Drowned. Shaped Glass is good but has it's downsides, and every other lunar item is either situational or bad.
The worst you can do possibly is to get like 3 shaped glasses for double damage but halved hp for each and 3 transcendence what doubles your hp but turns it into a shield nullfying all healing sources. If you get all of these that still does not mean you got better than anybody else because these items are unnecesseary.
You wanna know how the cheat works? Your savefile is essentially a txt so you can edit it whenver you want to unlock everything and give you 999.999.999 coins but this wont change the gameplay in any meaningful ways.
I have more than 2K coins and i have been in runs where we havent seen a single blue portal or blue item till the 6th map. It really doesnt matter.
This morning i entered a game with a guy called chair and the first thing he done was transforming into various object including a missile drone, spawning several items directly on himself while making the server lag as hell each time he shoot a small scale nuke.
I just noticed that my run in with that hacker has resulted in me gaining 5K extra coins so im now sitting at 7K coins.
Report and punishment systems dont work for games what dont even have their own servers, the reason why a hacker could turn himself into a gunner drone spraying the area with preon balls is because everything is in our computers, literally nothing is in the devs hand.
