Void Reaver, really?
So i had a very good run yesterday 220min. in, standing in the middle of the map and everything just died around me. Reminded me alot of RoR1 and i liked it. Risk of Rain never had a instakill though and appearently the Black hole of the Void Reaver is a Instadeath no matter what and i really dislike it. But that is just my opinion. All in all it is a great Sequel to RoR2. Maybe change the black hole to do 90% of your health pool as damage no matter what?

You never got hit by a blighted boss then though.

But yeah, it's the only instakill in the game. I like it. It keeps you on your toes even when you just transform into a god of death.

Void reavers only appear on Rallypoint Delta and Sirens call. If you get those 2 stages just be more careful of what you kill. The intention of that enemy is to have an enemy that is still dangerous even if you are op. I'd argue scavengers are more dangerous because of the item potential they can spawn with might lead into an unavoidable death, but void reavers are easy to avoid as you should have plenty of speed by that point. Just my opinion

I agree. They're honestly really cheap. Guaranteed oneshots are never any fun and I hate them more than I hate wisps in this game.

I mean they're hardly guaranteed. It's like the wandering vagrants death bomb.
Can it kill you if you get stuck on it? Yeah, but you should know it's coming when the vagrant is low and keep something handy to duck behind.
Same goes for reavers. Can they kill you if you get stuck in the bomb?
Yeah, but you should know it's coming when you kill a reaver so just be prepped.

Void reavers are fine, they telegraph literally every attack albeit the visions of heresy. Try spawning in, moving a few steps into the map, and get royal capacitored 5 times by a scavenger and dip down into -3717 hp.

How about DON'T stand in the OBVIOUS sphere of death? I mean that attack has such a unique and loud sound it's honestly you're fault for just standing there like a fool. It takes EVERYTHING in the sphere, including bosses so, yeah, pay attention next time.

Yeah that is true in a way, i played the game with sound of at that point hearing some good music, i had 35 goat hoofs and alot of other speed items rushing trough the map in a split second but my procs killed a ice enemy i got hit by the ice sphere standing at the point and got some bad luck that at the same time same area a void reaver died and couldnt get away from the black hole. I think i will just stand way up the air when i get into the two zones where they can spawn this should fix it xD

After all they are very cool designed enemies, like the sounds of the death sphere alot.
They're not that bad, when they're about to die you should always move away and there's enough time for you to get out of the aoe before it implodes. Idk i find it cool but idk if it can destroy enemies.

I never even knew what the purple death sphere did until this thread. It was common sense to not get stuck in the ominous purple ball, and looking at the log I found these are the only enemy so far to have never killed me (yet at least)

I saw the achievement to unlock Arcid mention "Void", and I thought "huh, those enemies are pretty rare, maybe their death ball thing is a teleporter to the new void world".

Not my smartest idea.

It's probably one of the coolest enemy designs imo, and that's mostly cause I just recently found out it one shots everything in the AoE radius. Managed to take out 2 magma worms by luring them near the reaver and just blasted it.

10/10, high potential for big brain plays

THAT...

Is hilarious

I also initially thought that was the way to enter the void realm. So thankfully I assumed it's possible that I instantly die and didn't lose an important run. It's fairly easy to avoid them so no problem for me.

Question is, should it ACTUALLY teleport you to void realm instead of instakilling you? Maybe it should teleport you to a place where you have to fight some kind of void-something boss. Or something similar to the areas in HL1 where the Nihilanth teleports you.
Thug Killadome Dec 30, 2019 @ 6:26am
I think they're mostly fine, they're a ton of fun to fight with REX; if there's a mob or a boss you're sick of dealing with just shove a Reaver into the mix and watch everything stop living
