Which game do you prefer? Risk of Rain 1 or Risk of Rain 2?
I mainly wanted to ask the veterans to the two games since I played both (recently Risk of Rain 1) and I loved 2 so much that its my most play rogue like, Risk of Rain 1 is also fun but just feels off to me, like clearing all enemies after killing a boss and charging the teleporter. The method of unlocking the characters is neat too but some are like "Jesus game, relax". But I ask to the veterans who have possibly more hours than I do (not an insult, I promise, yall are legends that I probably dont know) Which do you prefer? Risk of Rain 1 or Risk of Rain 2?

Definitely Risk of Rain 1, almost no contest to me sadly. I just enjoy the items more. And one of the main reasons I played RoR1 is because of Bandit, Defender, and Miner from what I heard they'll never make the cut. The characters are like 80% the reason I play RoR, and I don't really enjoy anyone in RoR2 but Huntress (and occasionally Mercenary)

I loved Bandit, its why I play both RoR1 and RoR2, I miss my boy bandit in RoR1 and I want to keep unlocking stuff, like I need to unlock huntress, CHEF, Mercenary, etc.

Risk of Rain 1 is a superior game on all fronts IMO. Music and gameplay blow 2 out the water without contest, and character selection is better. It's nice to see RoR back again, but the first game was lightning in a bottle. RoR2 is just a light bulb in a bottle.

I really hope it gets better once its out of early access, I love it but something feels missing.

Oh man, I didn't even mention the music in RoR1. Literally the only reason I know how to spell Coalescence is because that song is a masterpiece. I don't think the music in RoR2 is bad or anything, but I can't remember a single song off of the top of my head, and I'm really into video game music.

Oh I love the music too, I think the one thing I never got the hang of was the controls, yet I play on controller for risk of rain 1 and it plays amazingly well, call me scared I guess but just, controller feels good when playing RoR1

I think its also worth mentioning that some of the methods of unlocking items and survivors may very well be intimidating (like huntress, getting 15 monster logs total, since I have no clue what survivor would be best to get that efficiently). I do want to commit but goodness some of the challenges are a doozy.

I like both equally well. they each have their charms and while I play 2 a lot more nowadays (mainly due to the fact I can play with friends without having to use hamachi or some other port forwarding thing) maybe I like 1's gameplay a bit more, but it's hard to rank the two because of the large number of differences.

I definitely like the 2nd more, I find it easier to play with different characters while I mostly got stuck on Commando and Huntress on the first game.

Enforcer traumatized me.

Risk of Rain 1 for the soundtrack and color palette. Risk of Rain 2 for everything else

Huntress is what scares me the most on trying to unlock, Beyond that, I can get the other stuff, I had zero clue you unlock items when doing specific challenges on certain characters in RoR1

I am leaning more towards ROR1 just because it felt skill went a little further. RNG always gets ya in the end but to often in ROR2 the spam of OP enemies is a little much. literally like 10 - 20 of the minigunners is a run killer for me. They snap aim ridiculously fast

I enjoy 2 more for the gameplay that a 3-D environment offers, though I'm a sucker for pixel art which is what drew me into the original.

I think I prefer 2's gameplay, but I do really miss a lot of the original survivors, items, and environments.

remember that ROR2 is still a early access meaning more content will come late and maybe old character if possible tho you have to think they have to both make the 3d model and adapt the skills + adding new monster and stuff in conscequences
