Engineer shield doesn't "block all incoming damage"
I know the engineer is probably the easiest class to play at this point, but the shield REALLY needs some fixing. And I say this almost entirely because IT DOESN'T WORK.
Those crabs that shoot mortars? They go through the shield and kill you in 1-2 hits.
Those golems that punch the ground? They shoot you upwards out of your shield, dealing damage, causing you to take massive fall damage, and probably causing you to die.
And there are at least 2 other things I haven't been able to determine that kill you when you are in a shield-zone.

So either fix that stuff, or remove the shield entirely. Because if there are attacks that can get through a shield I'm just going to throw it down over my turrets and ♥♥♥♥ off out of there, not using it as it was probably meant to be used.

They both do AoE damage, that's why it hits you over the barricade, could be fixed by making the bubble larger. And this is a game where you're suppose to move in order to survive, standing still while playing alone is not the way to go, maybe in a coordinated multiplayer session.

bubble is fine, if killer mortar crabs are shooting you then you need to be moving and finding them. if a stone golem is spawned as the boss, you need to be moving and using the barrier to stop his laser from hitting you or your turrets. its not a camping tent.

Not sure if I agree with the "not using it as it was probably meant to be used" thing. Using it to protect you turrets seems like a perfectly valid strategy.

One could argue that AOE shouldn't go through the shield, but I think the fist from the ground is fair game.

I think shield is a fine item but honestly mobility is always a superior tactic. I usually use it more as a barrier when escaping.

My reply to both of you is "The description of the ability doesn't match its gameplay counterpart. This is bad developer-player communication."
The ability says it block "all incoming damage". It doesn't. That's bad.

I know how RoR1 played, I know how this game plays. Engineers are already OP. But I should not be ensconsed in a blocking ability that I'm lead to believe is safe, only to realize that I've been 1 or 2-shotted to death for no valid skill reason.

I've never noticed the crabs shoot through mine, and I don't see how the shield not melting into the ground to protect you from the fist of a single enemy type is a problem either, Especially since it can block literally anything else that doesn't walk into it.

The bubbles are great for Engineers in co-op. With someone like Artificer or Mercenary running about clearing everything that can pop through your shield, you and your turrets should be able to just shred through everything else.

Apparently I have to say this again: the skill reads "blocks ALL incoming damage". It does not. That is a problem, whether or not you think it shouldn't block certain things.

Also, I very often can't see the telegraph for the fist because the shield is overly opaque (plus there's often lots of stuff in the way or I'm looking somewhere else), so how am I supposed to know to dodge an attack that A) the game has told me I don't have to dodge, and B) I can't see coming half the time. The other characters are all moving all the time. The engineer is designed to stand still.

Direct hits are blocked. AOE affects are not. Hopefully it will get fixed. As for golem fists, move your @ss.

Youre not understanding the block all incoming damage. The SKILL blocks all incoming dmg. Where is the skill? Not aiming towards the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ground, thats for sure.
Its like saying an umbrella doesnt block rain because if the rain comes from the ground, you still get wet.

I think the only fix they need is change the description into sort like
"block any incoming projectiles hit the barrier"

And that pretty much solved the OP's problem.

Or OP could just be be a big baby about a single attack getting through his safety barrier, also claiming that engineer is designed to be played standing still is dumb, no character is designed to be played standing still.

Just get two Tesla Coils and run around, let the game kill everything for you and you don't NEED turrets or a shield!
