I so want to see the Scepter return. I completely agree.
I think that could be interesting. I think something similar to Monster Tooths healing could work, just more effective. Maybe you have to go and pick it up, and then it gives you a ramping heal similar to Fresh Meat.
Honestly as a Green it would need some dialing back since it's more reliable healing than say, Leech Seed healing 1 per hit and requires low damage/high attack speed and Scythe requiring big numbers or high crit chance for it to be a reasonable source.
Bungus, a white item, is far better in the long run than the desk plant.
Basically how to use these items:
Desk Plant: kill things. You get healed.
Fungus: stand still. You die.
Note how Desk Plant does not involve you going back to plants, or camping near a plant. That's not the point. Plants spawn constantly as you're killing things (which you're constantly, always doing; unless there are no enemies, you're literally never not killing things), so even if you're moving, you're being healed constantly. And it's a percentage heal, so even at high max HP it's significant.
If anything, the biggest problem with the Desk Plant is the fact that 95% of deaths in the game are due to insta-kills from enemies that score multiple hits with one attack, or insta-kills becaue shields were counted as max-HP. Not because you couldn't out-heal slowly stacking damage. Put a bit differently, healing in general is crap, so probably doesn't have a place among legendary items (unless it's an item that turns healing back into damage)
Regardless... The desk plant serves only to corrupt the pool of red items
I think “xeno-aloe?”
IDP ought negate burns.
