There's no way to stop pirates as fans but the devs could but something into the game where it's impossible to complete the game if you pirate it (I don't know how to explain it but yeah hahaha)

No protection is perfect and I had seen games with that kind of things...
and pretty often some people with legit copies endedup without
being able to finish it because of a bug saying they are NOT legit.

That kind of protection is a waste of time.

People would pirate less if developers provided demo versions to their games so people could try before they buy. But since the industry has been complete garbage for over a decade now that practice is all but gone.
Honestly, if you make a good game, people will buy it.

Yeah, a lot of companies these days want you to pre order their game based on fake pre rendered E3 gameplay rather than being able to honestly see what their game is like.

You don't. Stop crying about something that's been around since removable media.

Random concern?

Not that piracy is a good thing but sometimes it leads to more people buying and playing games than if no piracy existed. Piracy was one reason doom got so big. Again not advocating for it but it's going to happen with a very small group of people and oh well. Hoppo has made awesome games and I'm sure will be just fine. I've got my wallet ready to throw money at this game.

Also an aside, I watch a lot of gameplay footage and even if the game isn't something I want to play I will frequently purchase a game just to support devs. Risk of rain 2 will probably be one of them. I'm not so much an action type and will put a dozen hours in but will watch hundreds so... TAKE MY MONEY! Lol

I originally pirated Risk of Rain 1 when i was poor to try it out. I ended up loving it and bought the game for myself and a couple friends.

Pirating is unfair to the devs, however its basically impossible to stop and has a minimal effect on the games sales realistically.

Sometimes piracy can actually have a positive effect on game sales, it's kinda hard to prove but a lot of people who pirate games end up buying a game they might not have initially

Just a troll post man. Someone was just being cheeky. I don't think it was malicious and I don't think the o.p. even meant it. I saw it and took it as a joke. I think if hopoo thought it was serious they wouldn't let it stay up.

This tbh fam.

I was just guessing, I agree on the high chance that was a troll. Yet still from that sentence could spark the concern for piracy even though it wasn't meant by the original person.

Well i mean there's really no way to stop piracy. There's no point having a concern about it, but as i said, the pirate community normally find pirating indie games without considering buying them taboo.
