A few times now I've opened a chest and had the item plop ontop of me before I realize I'd rather have my teammate get it.
I think this would be good in multiplayer.
But making it to where you can drop stuff goes against the nature of the game.
Alternately, Bongwater's alternative seems like a good middle ground - by forcing players to confirm that they want an item, we would be far less likely to, by accident or through haste, pick up an item we don't want.
Looking at you with that last one, Wake of Vultures.
Not true, I've had rare printers give out ice crystals.
You could just ignore them though.
I think it would be better if items were instanced to whomever opened the box but that each player could drop up to 1 or 2 of their items per stage. This would allow for carefree pickups (and safety from ninjas) while also encourage tactical swaps amongst friends without it descending into complete reshuffle madness or 3D printer exploits. The goal being: RNG with some player control; just like the rest of the game.
