Abandoned Aqueduct Switches

Been trying for hours to find both switches and I'm finding it impossible. I only found a pressure plate in two runs, and couldn't find the second one in either one. Searching the forums, someone implied that each switch would appear separately, so you could only get the second switch if you looped. So, I find one, can't find the other one in 20 minutes of searching, loop around, search for another 20 minutes, nothing. Backstabbed by a Blazing, that's the end of that run.

Where the heck are these things?! It's driving me nuts!!!

Someone lied to you or they got it wrong.
Both switches spawn whenever you get there and you can trigger them multiple times in the same run if you manage to loop there again.

They can be pretty scattered around sometimes, they tend to be around the rocks or beside some trees, some can also be found under pots.

It may take a while but you'll remember their spawn points eventually.

Make sure you play engineer so you don't have to rely on the physics engine to press both switches at once.

Searched the full area for over half an hour on Engineer and couldn't find the second switch. On the flipside, I did find just about every other hidden path and Newt Altar in the area (there were three of them on the map at the same time).

or u don't have to spawn second. My run was only with one button for door open

So far they can also spawn inside the bush/tree you can find in the border of the big area of the map with the huge bridge that drop slime in his center.
They can also spawn with NOTHING next to it, hide in plain sight, since I spotted it once in the big area of the map (with the huge bridge and all). If you run along the border, there is some spot where they can be found but it's the very same color as the ground so you need to pay attention.
It's very close to the sort of moutain/cliff border that limit the area.

There are many spawn points, at least 8. They generally spawn either next to a rock, under a pot, or next to the bamboo trees.

If you find 1, there's another in your map that you need to step on. If you're by yourself and not engineer/huntress/mercenary, push a pot onto it.

Does the radar scanner actually see them? Before I knew about the secret I scoured the map with radar a few days ago. No buttons, but I did have 3 newt alters, which I thought was weird.

I just tested the Scanner with a pressure plate in front of me. It did NOT show up as a ? from the scan. They may of course change that since we're all still in early access. ;)

The buttons are always next to some other terrain object, a boulder or trees. Sometimes you only need to press one button to open the door. I have opened the door twice with only one button.

That would mean one spawned with a pot ontop of it or an enemy was out of place and you were lucky
