Not OP but I have fps problems starting from stage 3-4 and my laptop qualifies as low end I guess. Especially the imp boss and the magma worm combined with adds can decrease my fps to 10. Running on
i5-6200
6GB RAM
NVidia 940MX
I've already changed the power management to maximum performance, and turned down a lot of in-game settings. What actually helped the most was turning off the floating damage numbers, but it's lame not being able to see my damage/crits/bleeds/... Turning off the screen shake also helped.
Does someone have any clue what I can do? Do you think this is a CPU, memory or GPU issue? I personally think it's not the GPU, as whatever I change in the NVidia settings doesn't seem to impact anything.
this is why i tell anyone building or buying a computer, get one with a strong base system build. a GPU is not necessary for a PC to function, it necessary for Gaming and Art, and is reliant on the strength and stability of your CPU. so if you said you had a i7 6700 or something, yeah i'd be wondering wtf and maybe accuse the RAM amount (8GB is probably the minimum i'd build with these days. 16GB recommended) but if you had the 16GB of RAM i'd say maybe GPU drivers or the hardware is just old or not well optimized for.
if you had top end for all generations and models that you listed it'd be imo, a user problem and things they are also running as well as the game. anything and everything takes power away from the game, this is magnified on low end systems dramatically.

Rename the copy to autoexec remember to make sure it stays as a cfg file.
Open the autoexec.cfg with a text editor, and in it maybe put something like this:
Resolution you can make into whatever you want, you don't have to choose the same as I have, but you can type a custom one that fits your aspect ratio.
For Exclusive true Fullscreen to actually work, you need to tell the game every time you launch it to go to windowed and back into fullscreen, for some people simply ALT+ENTER twice works in the main menu, for others it works to just tick and untick the fullscreen option in the video settings.
For some it won't work at all and we need to ask the devs to implement better support for Exclusive true Fullscreen :/
In game, open up the console with CTRL + ALT + § (the key above TAB, Below ESC), type help, and browse through what different commands there are that you could consider adding into the Autoexec.cfg file with your custom variable, like shadow_distance 50;
Thanks man your tweak really helped me improve my fps.
Tested it for a hour last night and I never dropped below 60. I was averaging around 90. 60 was as low as it got in late game. Give that a shot.
