(BTW how do you open up the console? Tried googling but googling anything about Unity always just get developer docs that have nothing for the players end.)

Btw, console command combo is CTRL-ALT-` (the little squiqqly wiggly near the escape key)
Sorry for the delayed response, but that didn't work for some reason. I'm thinking it's something to do within the game code itself; same way you alter the code to unlock characters.
