Why is progress saved on drizzle?
You play the game watered down, pun intended, and are rewarded by being able to keep all your progress. In RoR1 I understood the purpose of drizzle. The game can be hard and unforgiving, but you got to get your feet wet while also gaining an understanding of the game and of "what could be".
Edit: to everyone saying difficulty shouldn't matter and what not, then why have the difficulty descriptions with rainstorm being "this is how the game is meant to be played" and drizzle being how things are replaced with tickle and laughter. To everyone mentioning how its not helpful to "block progress" that also makes 0 sense as we've seen games with high difficulties/skill required do amazingly well (i.e. Dark Souls, Cuphead, Super Meat Boy, etc.)
Also, it was never about competition, flaunting my "e-peen", or ruining peoples fun. I was more or less hoping to get answers from a developmental point of view. Like functionally if you pretty much get the same progress as any other difficulty then why make a "base game" harder difficulty?

I wanna +1 this but I can't fully. I'm ok with still getting unlocks on drizzle but not with records.

i fully expect the later characters will require a specific difficulty to unlock them.

probably because it isn't that helpful to block progress. A lot of the progress rewards are luck based with no real connection to the difficulty of the encounter. collecting a certain number of items, failing shrines 3 times, collecting certain combination of items, etc. The benefit of a 'getting your feet wet' mode is pretty minimal.

playing on drizzle is the meta... i get high scores like you wouldn't believe!
there are no benefits to playing monsoon, you're only shooting yourself in the foot.
picking monsoon difficulty is a classic noob mistake.

It's not a competitive game so I don't see why anyone should care how others play and progress through it. Let everyone play and grow at their own level.

As said above it's not like difficulty has any competitive aspect to it. Prismatic trial is meant to be the competitive mode and it has only the one rule imposed upon you.

I find it really cool that you can unlock everything as you see fit. It's a video-game, it should be fun, not a chore.

It's not a competition, stop trying to ruin other peoples fun.
There are already items locked behind beating certain enemies at certain difficulties, I'm sure more will be added with similar challenges, and you have your prismatic trials if you really need to flaunt your e-peen.

Word. Just because we can do Monsoon doesn't mean everyone can.
