Item looting ruins co-op (for me)
I've only been playing for about 10 hours, but its given me plenty thoughts of the stages of the game in its current early stage. I've been playing with 3 friends and the game is a very fun surivival co-op game.

I find however that the looting system is flawed due to how it puts too much trust in players. Most of the time when playing with other players. You'll find yourself having half the items of some other player who's focusing on scaveninging the map of all items rather than splitting them up equally.

Yes, it CAN be fixed by simply not playing with greedy people. But some people refuse to hear it (family members etc). And instead i'd prefer if there was a system to prevent one person from snatching all the loot. Personal loot? Need/greed items? Im not sure, but atm people end up with 30 items while the rest have 15 or less. It ruins co-op for me and so far i've found single-player far more appealing.

In RoR there was a toggle-able option in the lobby called "Item share" which means you can't have more than 1 item more than other players, so every player has the same number of items... or something like that.

Fortunately havent had the first issue as we're all on discord. But as said, everyone wants to get all the items, so everyone rushes to snatch all the items, which makes it more of a competition rather than a cooperative gameplay. Not everyone will experience this, but it definitely will when playing with random people.

The only time this ♥♥♥♥ really bothers me if after a boss. A boss drops at least 1 item for everyone, so taking all of it is 100% a ♥♥♥♥ move.

Tell that to the matchmaking system.

In the first RoR there was a system that prevented players from looting items until all players had the same amount of them. Chances are they just haven't implemented the feature yet as they're working on content etc. I imagine a similar system if not the same one will be implemented.

From my experience it's all about teamwork and communication. People are going to be greedy, because people suck. Play with randoms, get random results. It sounds like your team isn't too good at teamwork.

"Item Share" makes sense, but I personally wouldn't enable it since stacking certain upgrades works better on some characters than others (for example: Fungus on the Engineer) allowing that character to carry into the later difficulties.

That's why Item Share was a toggle-only option in the first game.
Since currently we can just vote on stuff like difficulty and artifacts, then we should be able to vote on toggling Item Share "On" or "Off" when Hopoo decide to implement it (I hope they implement it).

Easily one of the dumbest posts I've ever read on Steam, congrats.

I just lower myself to their level and rush to the teleporter over and over untill the host quits the game. But I agree that some system should be in place to prevent this, I like the idea of having a 15 second timer to pick up your loot. Then if you don't need it, leave it for someone else.

It's obvious that you didn't share, nor care... /thread

Agree. Even when playing with friends, it's a pain to have to keep track of who's turn it is to open the box. Just add a rotating drop or can't open a box till everyone else has or something that is Turn ON/OFF-able in the lobby.

Then people who don't care don't need to use it, but those who do, can. Make everyone happy.
