Commando OP?
Is it just me or does the Commando feel a bit overtuned?
He's one of the faster and more mobile characters, his Damage output combined with accurracy and range leaves most other classes behind in 90% of all cases, he got solid HP (unlike the Huntress) and yeah his attacks trigger effects 2 times/ with double chance.

I feel like the Engineer is the only Class that can beat him consistently, but just at one thing: Staying at one spot and fighting arround his Turrets.
(Also too bad he lost his missiles. I loved the added anti-air option.)

But maybe it's just me seeing things.
Also i didn't unlock Mercenary yet.

He is op against the othe classes, true but he still lacks of dmg
Prolific Avocado Mar 30, 2019 @ 4:33am
He is OP in the sense that he can perform well with any item builds, so he is less effected by bad RNG. He is a true jack of all trades, able to dish out good damage at a long range, has a respectable health pool and decent mobility.

He wont deal as much damage as the other classes with their correct items, but he also will be alot better than they would without their correct items.

He is best in rush comps because you spend less time amassing money and collecting items and rushing through the levels.

Proof of that?

What about Huntress for example? I feel like shes just a weak mobile version of Commando with auto-aim. I have yet to experience the damage output of Commando with her.

In RoR1 you just give her Attackspeed and she does her thing but Commando feels like he uses that equally good. What exactly is her strong point, except of the novelty of being able to aim where you want?

I'd like to be taught your ways, because bosses steamroll me as commando while I grind them up instantly with MUL-T. Is having a dodgeroll that much more powerful than a close range machine gun, a stronger, faster long range piercing sniper, a charge attack with insane damage, a grenade launcher with huge blast area and multihits, and two slots for usables?
Prometheus Mar 30, 2019 @ 4:58am
MUL-T is better by a long shot. Commando needs buffs badly. I said it in another thread but larger right click hit box and firing more shots with his R would be easy buffs that wouldn't overpower him.
Vahnkiljoy Mar 30, 2019 @ 5:06am
No the commando doesn't need buffs, you need items on him to make him effective, that's how it has ALWAYS been, he might need tweaks but he honestly is just like he was in the original, just like the others, though mul-t is hands on, just insane and what I wish han-d was like, couldn't stand han-d, but gods I LOVE mul-t.
Hustensohn Mar 30, 2019 @ 5:15am
Really i feel different about that. MUL-T's Gatling has such a bad accurracy that you cant get a safe distance from your enemy. You always have to stay somewhat close with that big hurtbox of yours. Also his Piercing attack is just a slightly stronger version of Commandos Pierce Shot. That dodgeroll is pretty insane, combine it with some Hopoo Feathers and decent reflexes and your chance to get hit will dramatically shrink. Stun is also at Commanos Disposal, while it doesn't affect a large group of enemies, it's much better over longer distance, like i said much safer than MUL-T.
Commando can just get way out of Bosses Range, still accurately fire at them.
And his damage is not really that weaker than MUL-Ts Gatling since effects will proc more often. Best seen with the AtG Missile.
While MUL-T is stronger at close range, Commando has much better ranged game and survivability. His lower HP does not make a real difference.
Zefar Mar 30, 2019 @ 5:17am
Engineer and Mul-T are better at dishing out damage what I've felt.

When playing him I never felt like I was killing enemies quickly enough and later on the damage was quite lacking.

I think he could use some small buffs.

From what I can tell it has infinite range, hits instantly, has like twice the damage, and no cool down. Your definition of slight misaligns with mine. Commando can shoot through walls which is nice i guess.

The range game sounds about right still; I guess he's just easier for you mouse-users.
dat_potatoe Mar 30, 2019 @ 5:33am
Eh, my impressions:

MUL-T is really good. He has an AoE Stun spammable, a long range weapon that can do max damage at any range, a get out of jail speedboost that functions as an attack, and the ability to hold two equipments which can be extremely powerful, not to mention his beefier health. His only real downsides are that his automatic kind of sucks in comparison to commando's and he has better out-of-combat mobility at the expense of in-combat mobility.

Engineer is also good. Each of his turrets benefits from fungus and if you overlap them it provides a major healing field for your team, coupled with the shield and just how useful turrets and mines are in general. No he's not as good at running around killing ♥♥♥♥ as Commando but that's hardly the point of him is it?

Mercenary is very lackluster, this is well known. Between his poor mobility (unless you constantly chain combos) and his main attack being inefficient (rarely ever get third hit due to just using other abilities inbetween hits). However his R skill has more attacks, slightly more damage, faster cooldown, and makes him completely immune doing it. I've managed to completely melt bosses coupling it with Ocular Hud and Fuel Cell. So I believe him to be better at that if nothing else, but yes he does overall need a lot of love.

Huntress doesn't strike me as significantly better or worse than commando.
WhyNotZoidberg Mar 30, 2019 @ 5:36am
Commando is a very good character, no question about that. Better than others? I'd say he definitely beats Huntress in all departments, his only drawback is the lack of any area dmg per sé, but if you get proc chance items like missile MK1 or ukulele you can quickly make up for it agains trashies, given that he has the second fastest attacks in the game so far, he can trigger A LOT of procs. He has a stun which you can strafe on to multiple enemies and his mobility is great. Strategic dive is hands down superior to most dodge abilities because you are not forced to dodge in the direction the player looks (like with huntress) but in the direction your character moves. Certainly a good character, but in pure dmg or other departments definitely inferior to others.

Anyway thanks for all the input guys i can see your point. :D

Personally I feel that MUL-T is the most underwhelming, but I wouldn't say the commando is the strongest. Fair, in solo play he's good, but the Huntress has some strong DPS as well. Plus, is extremely mobile (Unlike the commando, the Huntress doesn't sacrifice her mobility for damage. She can attack during sprinting)

Bunch of syringes and lenses in particular (like 15). Combined with those jet engines you'll be warping around all day while throwing arrows at enemies as if you're a minigun. I found it to be fairly efficient since all your shots hit by themselves and you can focus on dodging while still melting enemies. The arrows hit so hard with crit and bleed as well.

Yeah that's, uh, how shes always worked. Lots of attack speed and crit.

What I'm getting from this thread so far is that if you main someone you're going to figure out what really makes them good, from items to strategy. Like in the first game I would play Acrid over Commando and used to think Acrid was way better, but then I would see my friend rolling around destroying everything as Commando because he knew how to build and use him right. Unless we get something like the command artifact from the first game its going to be harder to tell exactly what items are the best on each character.

*EDIT* Though looking at the prismatic leaderboards op might have a point, but then again those times look suss. That's just me though.

All the other classes felt underwhelming to me, especially the sword boi (Mercenary)...I really hoped that'd be a heavy hitter, but he feels somewhat weak, especially considering the lack of range.

Personally I like merc, but I tend to agree that he seems comparably weak and scales badly. Later on you cant even kill a normal golem with a tripledash + omnislash combo.
