FPS locked to 60

VSYNC is off, FPS is uncapped, can't get higher than 60 fps. What's going on?

EDIT: Checked Nvidia settings, forced Vsync off and refresh rate is variable up to 144. I don't have any idea what could be wrong. The options in game indicate I have 143hz selected, but the frame rate in the menu and in-game is locked to 60.

Your GPU is probably forcing Vsync on
If its a nvidia you can go to nvidia control settings and choose global settings "Vsync = off" Or change the setting for the game itself

This is assuming the game isnt actually locked to 60, which shouldnt be because i know someone saying (fps didnt drop below 80) So i assume its not locked 60

nah its cool. game doesnt really need to go beyond 60 fps (as someone whos going 120, and has locked to 60 i can see little difference in performance other than GPU being less hot.)


my suggestion to anyone having the problem check your GPU control panel settings for the game and see if you can override the FPS cap.

i got 160+ fps.
Vsync off
framelimiter off
120hz monitor

i did limit it afterwards though, because it makes no sense to stress my GPU for more then the monitor refreshrate.

In short, there is no hard framelock. Must be some Nvidia settings issue.

I ended up buying the game
180+fps
its not capped for me at all
the only option i cannot change is bloom

Ya this game has issues with setting monitor hz. I have tried all the hz settings within the game, and none of them change the game from 60 hz. 144hz still looks and feels like 60hz. Even with 144hz enabled in-game, when vsync is turned on it limits fps to 60hz, indicating that the game is not actually on 144hz. If 144hz was actually working, then enabling vsync would limit the fps to exactly 144.

My game runs at over 200 fps easily, but it is still stuck on 60hz mode so it looks choppy.

You guys will not belive this, but this is again windows fault because they think we all have laptops. This is what you do:
Right click on desktop and choose:
"Screen settings"
On the bottom click:
"graphics settings"
Browse and find risk fo rain on your computer (under commonapps)
Then click the risk of rain 2 game, and choose high utility.

Go to Settings > Video > FPS LIMIT and set it to unlimited.
