Having a hard time with Acrid
Maybe i'm doing something wrong, but.. I have a real hard time gettng good runs going as Acrid on solo monsoon.

Once the enemies start to scale a bit, hit and run with R becomes the only thing I can do (as melee equals death), taking ages until I can cause anything to die and maybe get a bunch of kills at once thanks to gasoline/will-o-wisp... and taking ages means things get even worse as taking your time to kill is a BAD idea in this game.

Wonder, how do you guys even reach the obelisk with Acrid? (not considering god runs where you find multiple legendaries that do all the work on their own, no matter the character :p )

Get drones, gasoline etc.
Keep using M2 and R, they still deal 240% and 100% damage respectively on impact that isn't poison and can actually kill.

Don't waste time finding and opening all chests. Grab a couple you stumble upon, then go straight for the teleporter. You shouldn't go over 5 minutes in a stage, even if it meants leaving behind items.

Yeah, M2 is single target and slow firing though, with wisps becoming a real pain as soon as they dont die in 1 hit... The R is real nice, but its damage alone is weak for that long of a cooldown... I mainly use it to spread poison. The thing is, well... It quickly ends up not being fast enough, needing multiple applications to finally kill... And thats when I inevitably fall behind

M2 has only a two second cool down, which is actually quite short. Don't miss the shots.

I think it has an AOE too, I could have sworn I killed to wisps with one m2 that were close together.

It does, quite a small one tho

They have managed to make the best character (he scales infinitely with his % based damage) but also make him the last engaging. The reason you end up hit-n-running is because that's how you play Acrid, his kit forces you to. Early on you'll finish enemies off with leap/melee and later on you wanna get an AOE chain reaction starter. That's it, you just run around, spit on everything and wait for it to die.

Just playing with poison is not enough. You have to go melee quite a lot to kill faster and not being overwhelmed, especially in early game. The hit and run gameplay comes after when proc and poison will melt everything.
You have already a lot of dmg with Acrid, and also a lot of AOE. Like Artificer, prioritize some healing/utlity items. In dmg items, Gasoline/drones are very good early.

Then look for proc Item as much as you can.

Yeah, melee combined with poison works great early on... its typically when it starts getting way more dangerous just closing in on enemies that i really start having trouble, because losing half my health killing one enemy isn't something that works in the long run, and the poison alone is way too slow (especially on bosses that then take ages to die)

I agree. Acrid is in my experience the worst god run contender. After a certain point of time, every enemy will take at least 100 seconds to kill with poison alone. Going in for some melee hits without insane movement speed is just begging to be killed, and even then, his melee hits are so slow because of his primary bugging out with too much attack speed, making the attacks pretty redundant.

A really cheesy way to play him is like Sailor_seller mentioned in the end of his comment:

Preferably with a stack of Rose Bucklers, as you'll be sprinting around looking at the scenery more than engaging enemies. With this strategy, I'm sure you will be able to obliterate on monsoon, but don't bother going further than that, cause the gameplay with Acrid only gets more monotone the further you get.

It would be super cool if more then half his kit was useful after the first loop. Crazy thought, I know.

Or if half the games items worked with him

to be fair, the leap is still useful even if you can't use it offensively: it remains a great mobility tool. But yeah, the fact that mroe than half of the items in the game offer him little to no benefits... maybe he was intended to be used mainly in multiplayer, leaving these items to other?
