I nearly got permabanned from more than one game because I had left open AHK scripts from path of exile, and the games anti-cheat thought they were for their game. I've removed all my AHK scripts to prevent things like this from happening in the future.
Luckily enough, a message to their support removed the ban like 2 days later, but I'd rather not take that risk again, and having to open/close an AHK script, in order to play the game with a reasonable function, that most games already include, is pretty much the same as editting the controls depending on the character I'm playing.
How the ♥♥♥♥ can you play a game with the ALT key as one of your primary buttons? Do you like bending your thumb in ways it's not meant to?
also OP you're the first person I've ever seen to care about dual bindings in a game. if I made a game I would not include it (mostly because I sperg out when I have anything in the second bind column)
wow sperg is censored lol
And again, the main reason I want to avoid using an AHK is not having to open/close it, but the fact that I play a couple different games with anti-cheat systems that consider AHK hacking, like maplestory, which I got "permabanned" from and spent like 3 weeks back and forth with the support team to get unbanned, explaining that the AHK scripts were for path of exile, which allows them, and i leave those scripts open, because I don't want to have to open/close them everytime. I don't want to get banned from games, just for making other games playable.
It's a quality of life thing that, most games nowadays, have.
You don't have to use it if you don't want to, but there are PLENTY of people that absolutely would.
you know AHK isn't the only solution though right? things like FreePIE and the original and in my opinion superior AutoITv3 also do what AHK does, and there are plenty of other projects that can do what you want.
not that the functionality shouldn't exist in RoR but there are other options for you that likely would be able to get past maplestory anticheat.
something that I guarantee you is undetectable without even looking into it, SharpKeys[www.randyrants.com]. it just edits the registry and uses native Windows functionality in a nice .NET gui package. it's not "automation" and it isn't a third party tool, but it will still take some effort from you.
