How much influence does Gearbox have over the game's direction?

I'm quite worried about the game being changed drastically because the publisher wants some kind of microtransactions or other annoying business practices. Do the developers have full control over RoR2?

I can tell you right now that gearbox is a amazing publisher and you have no need to fear about them screwing the game over.

yeah the only way they could have is past, which woulda been to go epic games exclusive.

but beings this is an unfinished title, epic probably didnt have as much interest in it.

Well, let's be reasonable. They're a decent publisher but Randy Pitchford is a grundle chomper. There's no way to really tell how he'll screw something up.

Why would the game change? I mean say you will about gearbox what game have they made that has seemed like it's core deisgn was shoddy because of the publisher? Borderlands series hello? Yeah it had a lot of dlc , but it was all worth the money and still one of the most popular games on steam today six years later.
