PSA for any aspiring engineers, shaped glass is the enemy

Relatively new to the game, bought it less than a week ago and been having a blast. Had a really solid run going, two loops in and I managed to run into a lens printer and a mushroom printer, found a behemoth, dagger, preon, and afterburner too. Turrets and daggers were mowing down everything as soon as it spawned, and I had a few decent movement items to quickly sweep the stage. Came across a newt altar and figured I may as well go for the 5 lunar items. Newt shop had N'Kuhana's in it, perfect, and a Gesture of the Drowned too. Instant buys. Next to that though, was a shaped glass. Double damage, very tempting. Half health kind of hurt, but I had tons of healing, should be fine right?

Turns out, healing doesn't mean ♥♥♥♥ when you get one-shot. And that halving my health halved my healing too, which halved my N'Kuhana damage output, so I basically barely got any extra damage in exchange for half my health.

Don't pick up shaped glass as engineer. Save that for an actual tank like MULT-E.

Shaped glass works in your favor if you print away your fungus for DPS items. Turrets react instantly and fire with almost perfect accuracy, you can kill most enemies the instant they spawn.

See, the problem is that I got killed from out of line of sight by a hermit crab. Turrets can't save me from that.

See, the problem is that I got killed from out of line of sight by a hermit crab. Turrets can't save me from that.

What're you doing standing still on a map with hermit crabs? You were just asking for it at that point.

I wasn't standing still, I just hit the teleportal and was moving away from it, and the crab somehow managed to hit me. Maybe I backtracked and walked into it. In hindsight I could've popped a shield and hunkered down, but I didn't expect to get one-shot either.

I have learned through trial and error: all blue items are the enemy, and to avoid them at all costs.

Depends. Eventually even without shaped glass your turrets will end up getting oneshot rendering the healing not as important. At that point I feel like just having the most damage is the best.
