Player Cap in Multiplayer?

I want to get my friends to buy this game, but I don't know how many players can fit in one game. There's 4-5 additional people not including me that would be connecting, could they all fit?

Officially the player cap is four, so no.

There are mods that raise the cap, but items and enemies scale oddly with it so it can get a bit ♥♥♥♥♥ if you have too many players. Six probably wouldn't be an issue.

there is a mod to increase player cap! but i have no clue if the game will scale the items past 4 players

Like others said there is a mod that increases player limit. There is also a mod that lets you customize the amount of loot etc you receive with more players. https://thunderstore.io look for your mods there. Make sure everyone mods their game so everything is 100% functioning.

mod exist to buff loot and monster up to 500times

16 players is the cap.
From main menu before launching multiplayer:
ctrl + alt + `
sv_maxplayers 16
steam_lobby_max_members 16
