Mods aren't official tho. I mean it should be a thing without anyone having to use mods.
I get what you're saying, I really do, but eventually money spent becomes less of an issue than how many items someone has. And, usually, if someone has a Green or Red item, you can assume they spent more to get it. Usually. So like if someone had 10 White items, and another person had just 1 Red item, you wouldn't have to complain.
It might be a bit harder to code, but perhaps they could also just show a little display with symbols for chests, large chests, shrines, and lunar pods, with numbers next to them showing how many times that player paid for each type.

Or is complaining because some one is much faster at reaching and opening all the chests on the map than him.
