Providence?

I wonder if the final boss will be Providence or not? Some people seem to think this is set after the first game because it said in an item log that maybe Providence got killed. But again, this log says he got killed by something with lots of eyes so it could be someone else entirely. And if this were a rescue mission how come some of the characters are the same? It also seems like a ship has crashed in RoR2 also.

It would be really cool to fight Providence in RoR2, but at the same time it might be cool to fight another boss.

We will see.

when the log said he was killed by someone with "lots of eyes" it was referring to the player stacking lens maker glasses in the first game :p also the devs confirmed providence to be dead in a blog post so i don't think we will be seeing him :c would be cool though if he did return!

Stacking Lens maker glasses still only looks like you have one. Also how could you wear a bunch of glasses and look like a lot of eyes? Where would you wear them?

Hmm... this is interesting, if they say Providence is dead I guess we might not see him unless RoR2 follows the same story as RoR1 just in 3D. Though I don't think this is the case.

It is possible he is "dead" but will make an appearance at some point.

Before the last update, I was thinking about a boss that was more like the player. I really want the Sniper to return but I also think it'd be super cool if the Sniper was a boss with the same items us players can collect or have collected in the current run. I get why it wouldn't work if you were playing as merc but it'd still be cool.

Just because you see one doesn't mean there can't be more in-universe.

That's true, but how would they make you seem like you have a lot of eyes, where would you put them on your body! I know this doesn't matter in the video game, but in lore I think it does.

Okay... I know I'm reviving a dead topic, but from what I have played so far, and what has been said (has not yet played ROR1) Providence is alive in this universe and the one who was I'm guessing killed him is the Heretic.
That said, it seems the Heretic was the one who died in some way and was scattered across the Moon, where Providence has imprisoned his brother Matrix.

My only question now is if the 'HER' that Matrix speaks of is the Heretic before she fell or someone else. And if Providence will be a type of boss later on down the line as it may be him who morns his brother Matrix after you kill him.
Or if Providence is dead but with the understanding of the soul lives in that separate plane and is making sure the Heretic doesn't revive and escape. (He did destroy Contact Light after all.)

I would like to hear more thoughts plz.

1) A survivor from RoR1 killed Providence in that game
2) Providence killed Heretic onboard UEC Contact Light during RoR1 intro
3) Heretic is an alloy vulture who was devoted to Mithrix
4) Heretic isn't "Her"
5) "Her" is most likely N'kuhana
