Good at ruining your run and possibly your framerate? Sure. Good at helping you kill things? Not a chance.

I always found it was good at taking the heat off you when paired with a 57 leaf clover if you didn't find/want the backup by then. But yeah, it definitely needs a rework sometimes the ghosts can damage you, sometimes they can't. And then there's that issue with the Dunestrider.

heh, the dunestrider ghost was the first, and only thing the mask did to end a run of me and my friends. it didnt dawn on us that its vaccume attack was indescriminate... still a funny way to die.

i think if there is any tweak done tot his item it'll be a cap that increases with your mask count.

Two stacks of Happiest Mask = unlimited bosses on your side.

but its true with the claystider , he by default sucks all in area x , so does the ghost version , it doesnt damage u( like all ghosts) , but if catched offguard it pretty much ends ur run as it pins u down

i just treat the striders as enemies in any given form. and it never ruins my run.

I AGREE, ONE TIME I WAS 4 HOURS INTO A RUN AND THE HAPPIEST MASK STARTED SLOWING DOWN MY COMPUTER BECAUSE OF ALL THE DIFFERENT THINGS IT HAD TO PROCESS

game is not designed to last 4 hours , sure u can do it , but it was never intended. the design of the game is beating the boss as fast as u can because he scales more as u do ( in comparsion to risk of rain ) so u only do looping if ur rng screwed u over and go for it first try when u got good items in the first cycle. u can try that on risk of rain 1 , u want to kill the boss in the first 2 cycles , or , u have to run like 2 hours hoping u mass so much that u "break" the game .

Bosses stop outscaling after the first couple loops. This is actually more the reason the game shouldn't be played to 4 hours. You tend to break the game before then. And when you're jumping around at 100 mph one shotting everything just by shooting a single shot and letting wisp/missle/uke chains kill everything or walking near stuff with Tesla, its basically impossible to lose unless your computer can't handle it. I'm surprised people find playing until their computer freezes or their hand cramps and they stop holding the mouse fun.

Its usually around 60 minutes or so you'll get to the point where you can't feasibly lose (killing enemies fast with lots of mobility), and by 120 game is usually completely broken.

Thing is though, happy mask sucks horribly either way. Its on the same tier as items like clover which is basically double damage, probably more.

Clover's one of the best red's actually. It boosts the proc rate of all your items except tougher times. That includes other reds. It's better to go with a clover then an extra pair of lens makers specs or another sentient meathook for instance because you're gonna get a bonus from all your items that can proc rather than just crit-rate or an extra chance for the meathook to pull enemies together.

By same tier I didn't mean same strength. I just meant they're both red. Perhaps I could have worded that better.

Point is you go to a red chest. You can get happy mask, or you can get clover. One is way way way better than the other.

My biggest issue with it is that the ghosts target you, they die incredibly quickly even if nothing's attacking them including the bosses and sometimes the ghosts bug out and register as enemies and you can't attack them but they can attack and damage you which is a really annoying situation to deal with.

I don't think the item would be that bad provided these issues would be fixed. Also maybe up the necromancy rate of small mobs. It seems kinda rare at 1 stack unless you have a bunch of ceremonial daggers flying around everywhere.
