Constant Lag?
Every time I go into a MP match it lags like crazy. I have a great connection in any other MP game I play, so what's the deal? Is there something I can do on my end?

It might be the host's internet?

Could be. But that's some crap luck if it's happening in almost every game in the last couple months. It makes it damn near unplayable.

I've even checked my connection speeds in a few ways and nothing is coming up as slow on my end.

I agree, game needs a ping limit at least.

Experiment with min graphics, true fullscreen (search it up), mods, shutting down all other programs other than ror2 and discord, and then try reinstalling.
Sounds like something else is succing all your pc power. In a laggy game, see if you can play something such as diep. io.

lag ≠ low fps

Many people I've played that are downloading something (experiencing little internet or little pc resources) with claim they are very laggy and may also experience poor fps. Anyways, it's worth a shot, don't ya think?

increasing your frame rate will have literally zero effect on your network connection. those are two different issues with two different solutions.

Alright. I suggested that because many, many people confuse lag with poor fps.

I know I have never experienced lag in this game until the June update, now every time I play with my friends there will be lag spikes where I will go for a full minute until the servers react to my commands.

And I know it's not network because we both have fibre, he's rolling on 100 Mps and I'm on 20-30.

I think something broke in the networking code recently.

its reliant on the hosts internet, since quickplay seems to pick at random rather than based on ping or stability, quickplay is sadly a bad choice for online play. atleast until they can think of a solution to the problem.

If there was a system like in SFV where you can see who you're about to match up with based on ping, that would be great. Then they could add in an option of only joining a host that has a ping level that you're happy with.

Loved this game when it first came out, but single player isn't a challenge anymore and I'd like to play with randoms. It's too bad the game seems to have gone down hill in the connection department (or my luck with decent connections). Hopefully they'll add in some sort of ping filter in the future, otherwise I'll just have to set it down for good.

I suggest trying out mods for a challenge.
