get lots of items, they are still pretty OP. the benefit though to them NOT landing killing shots is for things like infusion now you can get the benefit otherwise, the turret gets the benefit from such items.
I think usually on engineer if you can keep 1 turret alive his damage is good enough. I only had trouble with that when I went to the gilded coast and there were 10 titans. They kept ground pounding the turrets. But I only needed the turrets alive for like 15 seconds to kill a titan, and I was able to do that.
Ideally if you're an hour into the run, you have cooldown reduction, dio's, or so much damage you don't need the turrets or only need them alive for a few seconds. If you don't, well every character can have dead builds, and his dead builds seem a lot less frequent to me.
