I don't think that their particle effect is very large. It is fairly obvious that one is in the area, based on the black-green crystal things, but in late game it can be extremely hard to tell which enemy is a malachite among the dozens on screen.
Compared to the other elites, which are all neon bright colors, the dark green-black I think needs to be changed.
I second this completely. Literally the same experience; making it to the second loop only to get absolutely hammered by malachite elites. I do believe they are overtuned in damage. If not, then Rex has to be picked in parties due to his ability to debuff. Even still, I think they need fixing.
I'd like to think I speak for most when I say that giant stacks of hit points aren't any fun to fight. This is especially bad since the regeneration debuff encourages hit-and-run tactics.
I think its the boss ones that can become problematic, just because of the sheer amount of health they have compared to everything else at the same level, mostly around area 6-7
Well, it all depends on the run and which items you manage to grab. At some point unless you already attained GODhood, you will drop into a pit, and there's no climbing out of it. This problem is more prevalent in Multiplayer, where items are shared and every player is weakened compared to singleplayer, and it would be alleviated a LOT if you were able to trade items with the others.
As I was playing to the 90 minute mark, I had a really good run and pretty much anything I sneezed at was whiffed out of existence, so I barely even noticed the new elites presence.
