Really slow, can't dodge anything without movement items

He can actually. If you jump and hit shift, it launches him backward fairly far quickly.

It's like playing bulbasaur with your leech seeds, but you also got the attack from that annoying hermit crab enemy.

After playing some with him, I really like him. A slow and somewhat immobile(better than the Artifacer or Engineer, but not on Commando or Huntress level) support/DPS unit. His seed bomb has insane range and solid damage for it's cost, his shift ability can both defend by pushing away enemies or launching himself away, or attack by knocking enemies off the map or launching flying enemies into walls, and his R ability has infinite range and turns everything inside the radius into free targets for the seed bomb.

You can use him as a main unit, setting up flowers to trap, and then seed bomb groups of enemies, or you can aim for flowers and shift waves to weaken enemies for your allies to clean up.

So long as you are able to keep your distance well, know how to avoid enemies, and not play recklessly, you have an extremely solid character, but I also dont think he is as broken as launch day Enginner with Fungi was.

I didn't mention him because he is the absolute king of mobility in the game. Huntress and Commando are more upper middle tier, whereas Rex is low middle due to how akward it can be to manage turning around, jumping, firing, then turning back forward with such a quick spell cooldown.

If I added everyone into a list, I think it would be.

Engineer=Artificier < Rex < Commando < Huntress <<< Merc

HAN-D is a bit weird so I left him out since he is hyper mobile, but only on the ground, and only if large enemies aren't in the way. I would place him between Commando and Huntress otherwise

love his shift and R abilitys. i really dont like the mortar. the damage honetly didnt seem to be worth it even when the enemies where piled up

Are you sure? At around 20 minutes, I am able to spam the mortar without losing HP because of how many enemies are being drained. Especially since their corpses continue to give HP after they die.

Obviously early on the HP cost will be rough, but at midgame levels it starts to not matter as much, and by late game, it is extremely strong so long as you use his R properly.

Rex is pretty neat. A very cool concept. At first, I thought he would be super reliant on heal items, but his M1 heal is actually pretty solid. It can't keep you alive while being bombarded, but it is certainly noticeable. Attack speed is a bit low, so you need to aim well, damage is good on M1, M2 can one-shot beetles and Lemurians, the blast wave is great for pushing back imps and other enemies, and the damage for knocking flying enemies into walls is amazing, though difficult to pull off. You can also use it for knocking enemies off the map. R ability is great, toss it down in a crowd, they all get pulled in, mortar spam them all to death while the life drain keeps you at high HP.

NEVER pick up trancendence.

Seems like the character is very dependent on items as damage scaling per level seems low. The character seems best at moving around the map, letting enemies spawn, bunching them up, hitting R, and then dropping M2's. Titanic Knurl definitely not as good of an item as I thought it would be due to the % health thing. It's ok, but not the item I expected. Alien Head seemed worthless, too, as the difference in time between R's wasn't that dramatic, M2 is nearly instant anyway, and shift is more utility than anything. Primordial Cube will be very strong on the character, particularly if you get multiple shots.

I think this character will be great in groups. He's good crowd control and when paired with characters like the Artificer all of your swarm enemies will be pointless. I also think this character will work well with the Engineer.

Transcendence makes him unplayable, skills drain his shield, but its impossible to replenish them with LMB and R

Feels kinda slow, even with that shift boost in midair, damage from LMB sucks major ass, slow and just nah

wisps and other flying enemies(small ones) is annoying to deal with

BUT

his R, mortar and shift knockback are damn bangers, CD is almost nonexistent, makes killing groups of mobs very easy

overall solid character, not op, combo with artificer/huntress = perfecto

I think he seems like a decent support, I can see some pretty cool potential interplay between him and Huntress or Artificer. As a solo player, he's not great but not terrible either. I'm not very good at him, personally.

LMB is actually really good. You just need to learn how to lead for its speed. Flying enemies aren't an issue at all when you do that. Move speed is definitely the biggest issue with the character; he feels incredibly slow compared to all the others.

he's ♥♥♥♥♥♥ trash, instantly worst hero out of the pack
Kaseda Jun 25, 2019 @ 4:46pm
Transcendence probably isn't so bad with the new Aegis item. I imagine all healing turns into barriers when you have both, so it could be a very fun synergy.

I haven't been able to play much with him but brittle crown completely breaks him. His self damage triggers it, so you lose money when you use his abilities in addition to health. That's the really bad one.
