She really only has one playstyle, but she is stupidly strong at that one style.
She's really strong, but she's dead meat when blazing elites start spawning in hordes and malachites show up on the scene.
But ignoring that, she's hella fun to play. Definitely your top pick if you want more lunar coins. You can obliterate a run in 15 or under if you're good enough!
If they change her I'd be very angry.
Also just about the only character with an alternate ability that's actually better than the base version IMO. Spiked Fist is great.
In comparison I find Mercenary gameplay rather dull with the constant reliance of just pressing shift and R as much as possible to keep from being able to die, most of the gameplay is just sitting in i-frames and having a sort of jarring couple seconds of not pressing shift or R when they're both on cooldown for a moment and you haven't found a bandolier or alien head.
Personally I find loader to be much more powerful than others in the early game, about equal mid game assuming similarly good items, then honestly sorta falls off later on when things aren't just dying to a single punch of the shift and you're relying on will-o-wisp spam like everyone else to take out groups. Merc I see as very weak at the beginning, horribly lacking in damage, however as the game goes on and he gets healing on crits/hits, more crit chance, some proc items, etc he.... still is really lacking in damage when it isn't just a big cluster of enemies he can get with big AoE swings or dashes but at least is very durable.
Doesn't really fit me tbh, the damage just isn't there, the i-frames just seem like a counter balance to him needing to be in the danger zone while other characters can just jump around and shoot from range to not get hit in the first place. Can just go and get through teleporters early on faster with most other characters.
Even with Commando I can just run up to a stone golem and wipe it out with an R and M2 hit, meanwhile with merc the R alone takes longer than the R+M2 combo of commando and barely manages to take out half the hp of one then you gotta hack at it with the dashes and M1/M2.
He seems to be sorta talking on "consistency" of runs, like how well they can manage on a regular run without certain items. Rex being very reliant on some improved healing and AoE items to keep him going, Mul-T kinda needing some leeching seeds, crit glasses, and harvester's scythe to get his healing going fast while not really benefiting much from proc items due to the lower proc chance and pitiful per hit damage, engineer basically just requires you find a fungus printer and N'whatever's opinion with maybe an Aegis thrown in or else you're really not hitting your potential, merc and loader both benefit massively from bandolier and other cooldown reductions along with soldier's syringe speeding up Loader's charging time with merc being a more complex playstyle of needing all your abilities off cooldown all the time and loader just needing to charge up the shift and use it more often, Huntress being just overall good at stuff ranging from single target damage, AoE, and mobility with the new skills involved, and then we have Commando and Arti up top due to their massive damage output they can put out all the time and their ability to take just about any item and get a good bonus out of it.
Also what you say in your post goes against what the guy in the video says, you say Loader is slightly better than Commando, but this guy puts Loader a couple tiers under Commando and Merc as an equal to Loader. He even mentions how Merc has to think about a lot of things like having his R on cooldown, having enough dashes at the ready, etc to be able to do damage and keep up i-frames compared to Loader being able to just do better damage more often because of the ability to just get in and get out with a shift attack.
