Which means no farming but taking 1-3 items per person, depending on how many chests are near the teleport, and activating the teleport. Maybe taking some more chests after the boss kill if they are not far from the teleport. This way you advance faster and actually acquire more items in a shorter time span.
And, of course, keep running and jumping 100% of the time.
Yes any character can beat monsoon once you're good but in reality Merc and Engineer are probably the easiest classes to progress on. Merc with even 1 shaped glass or some attack speed is amazing and Engineer stacking mushrooms and Tr-tip daggers is a good start.
Basically dmg/speed for Merc and Mushrooms plus anything that does on hit effects for the Engineer will get you far easily.
If you want you can even go 2 engineers just be careful with shield placement or you will end up blocking each others turrets from doing damage.
Characters like Artificer and Rex are best left for when you're more used to the game. Multi is a good tanky all rounder, Loader is very strong but slow early. And Huntress is a good early option but the base attack speed is kinda slow, she has really good escapes though. Commando is always a good option too I just find his dodge kinda lacking since it can only go forward.
Items are obviously random but learning what's good for each character will help a lot. Other then that just learn to time using escapes/dodge so you don't end up in a dangerous place while it's on cool down. Hope this helps a bit.
The longer you stay at one stage, the harder next one will be.
You realize all that text was literally an extended of what I typed out, you might think it isn't useful but it is, more playtime will mean better runs due to skills growing. If you take what I said as a slight that's on you, not me.
It's helpful to explain what the pace should be in the game. You don't just magically pick that up. Before this change I was picking up every item in every stage, usually taking 6-8 minutes per stage near the start.
Playing more would not have made me realize this was a bad strategy for early game. Especially considering monsoon is supposed to be tough.
This person saying it, however, may encourage me to try getting only 1-3 items and seeing it works better.
Telling me specifically what I should be paying attention to, like which items are good on the character I'm rolling with, is also marginally more helpful than telling me to 'git gud'.
Being told to 'git gud' is essentially true, but it's not as helpful as telling us *how* to get good.
We both know no one posting on steam forums for help is looking for that generic troll answer. Clearly other people here think elaborating is worth something so don't let it hurt your ego. Have a chill day friendo I'm out :)
For example, if you stand on some rocks, melee enemies won't be able to hit you (most of the times) or, on scorched acres, the portion of the discs behind the outer walls aren't reached by enemies; also, you always need to be close to cover (not only for the titan laser). On later levels, you can get even more creative thanks to speed and higher jumps; higher positions are always better than lower.
Finding the right spot where to stand can be incredibly useful and is even better in multiplayer, because you can stay outside the teleporter's area if needed. It has saved me many runs.
It is also super useful, assuming a sufficiently large bank of lunar coins, to hit the shop every stage and make use of the Lunar Seers. The shop lets you pick up potentially game breaking items (permanent uptime on Spinel Tonic goes a long way to beating Monsoon), trade less valuable white items and accumulated trash green items from boss fights for more powerful items (sometimes) and as previously mentioned, lets you dictate the next stage. Sometimes the Lunar Seer will even let you pick the Gold Coast which, if beaten, allows you to summon Aurelionite to help with future bossfights - this is a big deal!
I would recommend the following stages, whenever the choice is available:
2 - The desert stage is preferable to wetland, as it is easier to traverse, find the teleporter, and get out. There's also the slight added benefit of being able to milk a red/white band out of the stage if you can locate both buttons in good time.
3 - Rallypoint Delta is so much better than Scorched Acres for going fast - the stage is infinitely easier to traverse, the teleporter is so much easier to see, and sometimes you get a free Preon Accumulator.
4 - Sirens Call for multiplayer is the better option as it is generally easier to find the teleporter, there are Shrines of the Woods if the party is doing poorly in the healing department, and Alloy Worship Unit makes for more free T3/Red items than the single gold chest provides. In thoery it's also faster with a good build and can be accomplished concurrently with the bosses, especially useful if you have Aurelionite available to help! And if you aren't strong enough to handle it quickly, you can always forgo it altogether.
1 (second loop) - I generally prefer Titanic Plains - while it's a larger stage, it's easy to traverse and usually more plentiful in terms of items. The wide open space also makes boss fights a little less claustrophobic and there's generally still enough cover to handle Stone Titans and exploding Vagrants. At this point you're in the home stretch!
You can easily rack up a cost of 20+ Lunar Coins if you're spending them aggressively this way, though, so it may not be ideal if you tend to be conservative with them.
