Slight Stutter Since Update
Noticed this immediately upon loading up a new run on my main rig and then confirmed the behavior on a secondary machine. Prior to the update the game ran very smooth for me with no real framerate issues until deep into a run with lots of enemies and effects on screen. Now I'm seeing dropped frames every 30 seconds or so creating an annoying microstutter. Might also occur when picking up items but it's honestly hard to tell. Framerate is otherwise locked at cap (120FPS).

Issue occurs on a fresh install of the game and regardless of settings (all max or all low). Tried on both a Ryzen and an Intel rig (both with GTX 1070 video cards) and it was the same exact behavior. Drivers and system are up to date. Game is installed to an SSD on both systems. Anyone else seeing this or have a solution?

I'm getting that too now. It's weird, because it didn't do that yesterday.

Seeing it and feeling it. Bothers me enough to make the game unplayable.

Happening to me too. Running on 2080Ti. All other programs closed, restarted my computer, uninstalled and reinstalled, reduced graphics settings and it's still there. Happens once every 30 seconds or so and the stutter lasts for a little more than a second. Very bothersome. Posting here to see if anyone else is experiencing the issue and to see if there is any update/solution for this.

This exactly describes the behavior I've been seeing on both of my machines. Haven't found a solution yet.

I was getting it but thought it was because I also just happened to start broadcasting my gameplay sometimes

Tried it out on my friend's computer, he had no problem, but to be honest I have no idea how to fix the issue on my computer. It's confusing.

Something I do notice that's a pattern though... When I'm typing this comment in steam on my other screen, it stutters in the same way that heavy rain does at the exact same time. I have no idea how to fix this.

Tested it while turning my network off, the stuttering persisted. It's happening on other games for me now.. Just tested it out in Tabletop Sim. So I know it's a Steam issue now.

I would double check other games to see if other people are experiencing the same problem I am, but it's not just Risk of Rain 2, just a heads up.

(Edit) I tried testing out the issue on Monster Hunter World, and the stuttering on steam magically disappeared. I went back to Risk of Rain 2 and it came back. I don't even know where to begin to fix this problem. I've already uninstalled and reinstalled both Steam Client and Risk of Rain 2 and it's still happening. I'm officially stuck.

Alright, I found something that seems to have fixed the problem.
I noticed that my problem was with the GPU dropping to 0% after staying above 50% for a certain amount of time. I checked for drivers and power saving settings on my computer.
I have it set to high performance instead of power saving, but it didn't resolve the issue.

There was an Nvidia driver update on the Geforce Experience application. I updated that, but it did not fix the issue, so next I checked the windows drivers that were updated as well.
There was a Windows update that installed a driver on the GPU.
I went into the Device manager and rolled back just the GPU driver and restarted my computer.

That seems to have fixed the stuttering in all my games and on the steam client. I'm not sure if this was an issue with the GPU update from Nvidia or from windows, but once I had done all of the above, it fixed the problem. Hopefully this helps someone else who's experiencing this problem.

Can you provide the driver revision number that you ended up with?

I have that only when i use r2api
this might sound funny but for me it was because Google Chrome had an update. updated chrome and the stuttering stopped

I actually cannot anymore. Windows updated my computer again and no longer gives me the option to roll back my driver for the GPU. The stuttering in both RoR2 and on the steam client has now returned, and I am livid.

I've made a youtube video showing exactly what happens when playing Risk of Rain 2. This is something that's happening on both RoR2 and on the steam client, so I don't know if I'll be able to find the answer here. Might go to Steam Support for this.

Yeah, I used to be able to play this game while streaming without the performance suffering much if at all and this was a couple of weeks ago or so. Decided to try 2.0 with a friend today and I'm noticing frame drops all over the place. The performance has gotten incredibly worse and I'm not even streaming. Normally when I experience FPS issues in games it's because either my CPU or my GPU is hitting 100%. My CPU and GPU are both sitting at 50-60% or less the entire time these stutters are happening.

Edit: I'm almost wondering if this is an issue with MUL-T. I play MUL-T as my main. My friend doesn't have the issue unless she's spectating me when dead. I don't have any stutter/FPS issue when I'm dead and spectating her on a non MUL-T character.

Definitely having the same problem here. No performance issues before this update, and the stutter is pretty bad now.
