can you turn off the voices somehow?

i like how the game looks, but i don't like characters talking, axcept in important moments. i prefer reading.

You can simply lower the voice volume to zero in the options! It might also be a good idea to uncheck the "speech text time-out" checkbox so the text stays on the screen until you click.
