DMC2 save error/issue
i have problem with dmc2. Whenever I try to save the game I get "save failed". I've reset my saves etc but that didn't help. I even downloaded another player's save from the internet and the game doesn't even see it. What should I do to save the game?
- steam - restarted
- steam - reinstaled
- game files - verified
- game - redownloaded

Have you tried this one? Close Steam then go to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\(your steam friend code)\631510" and delete "remotecache.vdf"?

sorry for the long wait for my reply - I was getting a bit fed up with this problem with saving the game, so I gave up. but today i checked your method and IT WORKS. What is this goldberg emulator? I only took the one file you wrote about, but there are a lot of other files in there. It is worth noting that after replacing the file, the save location of the game changes. But finally I will be able to play dmc2 - thanks to you. Thank you very much

You're welcome. :D That should be a temporary fix. The save location is located at "%AppData%\Goldberg SteamEmu Saves" in the "631510" folder.

As for the use, it technically allows you to open DMC HDC without opening Steam.

now i understand why it's a temporary fix - this file bypasses steam, so that if steam crashes, you can still play your own and downloaded games - great thing, but now i can't unlock achievements in dmc2 :(

Yeah sadly. Unless you use Steam Achievement Manager from Github.

Still not sure if it's Steam app issue on why the saving won't work.

I think it's the steam app's fault. it was enough to detach the game from it for saving the game to work properly. DMC HD used to have steam cloud save, but that feature has been disabled - maybe that's the problem.
I think I've found the likely cause of the problem. It could be due to the game modifier you ran earlier, which is preventing you from saving. All you need to do is uninstall the game, delete or backup your save files, and then reinstall the game to solve the issue. Remember, just to be safe, it's best to delete the things mentioned above, then restart your computer before you proceed with a new installation.
