DMC1 has stopped working (SOLVED)
Just installed the game and clicked on DMC1 and then the game crashed, about to redownload it again sigh, what do I do if it happens again?

To anyone who doesn't have a PHENOM and is experiencing the problem I suggest you install Microsoft DirectX 11.
ttps:/softlay.net/drivers/directx-11-free-download.html
That's the link.
After extracting it simply run the DXSETUP application.

Before this post gets deleted (yes, they are doing that), this seems to be a problem related to AMD micros

I don't think they're getting deleted. They're getting moved to the Technical Help subforum, which breaks Steam's notifications link.

Most crashes seem to be related to Phenoms, but I fixed a crash in DMC2 by setting the game to Fullscreen.

Wait or change your CPU.

Forgive me but I am no technological wizard and I am without a doubt a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥♥♥, how do I do that?

Change your CPU? you need to buy a new one XD

also I think the problem might be that I launched the game without updating my pc, so I uninstalled the game and then updated my pc and re installed it again

All the people having this problem have AMD micros, so the problem is most likely related to that.

I did find a thread on the No Man's Sky forums related to a similar issue.

SSE emulation could have a pretty bad performance impact, but at the same time, this game might be able to get away with it due to how easy it is to run. It uses one core of my FX 8300 to 70% normally. No Man's Sky is a pretty bad example as it is a highly CPU intensive game, so hopefully you'll have better results.

The best option really is just to wait for a fix from Capcom. Sadly, I have no clue whether Capcom has acknowledged this bug or not.

A port of 17 years old game...Jesus Christ.

Dependencies on later versions of SSE are a common bug. Capcom isn't the first to accidentally step on Phenom users' toes, and they won't be the last. That's why Steam's hardware survey is an incredibly useful tool for developers; they need to know what the market is using, so they can ensure compatibility. That's why specifications never list graphics cards like the ATi Radeon 5xxx's or GTX 1xx's, as they target the majority of users and do the best they can on compatibility within reason. When it comes to Phenoms, they get neglected because they're in low usage, despite the fact that they're still alright for modern games most of the time performance-wise.

This is a brand new port, and should be treated as such. It runs on DirectX 11, after all. Missing instruction sets can mess up a lot of games, and I'm particularly unhappy about the fact that 3dnow! doesn't work on the AMD FX lineup...

So we have to accept DMC1 wont work on AMD? ever?
Space Coward Mar 15, 2018 @ 3:05pm
It works great on AMD for me. :)

Specifically, there's some dependencies in DMC1 that need to be fixed. It asks for an instruction that's only on more modern processors. The Phenom is starting to get old, hence why this happens from time to time, and it's up to Capcom to fix it. From what I've read online, only DMC1 has this problem for the time being.

And this is a 2011 port of a 2001 game...
