No. Those problems are present in the 2012 release for the PS3/X360, it has nothing to do with "adapting the whole code to PC".
. It never had "terrible" issues, but minor issues here and there on some glow effects, thats all. It's understandable because its a freaking emulator afterall. The fact that a paid 2018 official version is even being compared to the emulated version already speaks volumes. Let alone that official version having problems that are not even present on emulation.
With mods? Probably. But as of now the emulated version doesn't have missing effects, inferior soundtrack quality, broken orb sound effects and audio looping glitch. I don't think that will be so easy to mod and don't expect it to come before a couple of weeks. Costumers shouldn't have to fix developers' mistakes anyway.
I was talking about the bugs that are not present in the PS3/360 version.
But whatever, even if we talk about the PS3/360, I can understand that a native port doesn't have the same issues that a emulation has. The thing is they could fix them, but the didn't.
Nope, people do it all the time. They even did it for the FFX/FFX-2 remaster, considering it was a joke. But oh boy, the remaster is way better than the emulated versions.
I won't same the same thing here, and it's not even a remaster, the former HD collection was not a remaster either, just an HD port, so we knew from the beggining it wouldn't had a lot compared to the PS2 version.
But honestly, aside from those totally non game breaking issues, this new HD collection look a lot better than the emulated version and perrforms better too. It might be a little overpriced considering it's just an HD port but... there is a difference between value and price.

Most of these issues are not even noticeable if we stop comparing them all the time. Aside from the inferior soundtrack quality which is a shame, I couldn't care less about the other issues.
Oh wait, the orbs do a little higher pitched sound than usual, port is trash, instant refound, spit on the developpers' faces.
This is what I call nitpicking.
Is it?

Doesn't look like the case to me. Missing bloom effects and broken facial animations. That's why i didn't even bought that remaster in the first place. FF is heavily story driven so messing with facial animations like that broke the deal for me and i never bought it.
I knew this discussion would come to this. It always do when there is no counter arguement left
"Oh these are minor issues so how dare people complain about it." This is why we keep getting lazy ports, because there is always someone willing to throw their money at lazy stuff that could've easily be better.
Personally, I care. Sometimes it's easy to ignore them, like a certain graphical effect being missing, as long as it's not like the fog effects in Silent Hill HD collection, as long as it's a really minor and forgettable effect like the motion blur in DMC1, it's okay I suppose. No big deal.
On the other hand, at this point, you're no longer playing the original game. Now you're playing a lesser version of the game. No matter what is missing or deliberately removed, it's no longer the same game. If something is removed in order to improve the gameplay and/or game performance, sure, that's excuseable. But when it's there as some form of graphical polish that the developers spent time adding, it's a betrayal of the original content. Yes, it's just a minor effect missing. No, it doesn't affect gameplay in any way. But there's no excuse for removing it or not being able to render it again. Doesn't matter if there's no issues with this in an emulator, this is an official release and people are paying for a worse version of a 17 year old game. Is that acceptable?
Moreover, the sound effect that plays when you pick up Red Orbs is quite frequent. It's the complete wrong pitch. Some people won't be bothered by this, but again, it's the same deal. That's not how it's supposed to be. Same with the lower quality soundtrack, same with the music looping incorrectly or not at all. Same with the wrong sound effects playing when a certain weapon is used, like Cerberus in DMC3 using sounds from the guns. Same with parts of the character model being missing (Dante's Cerberus DT back fins).
Does it have any impact on the gameplay and combat? No. But is it okay to have any mistakes, however small, in a port?
As I said in the other topic, as someone who always wanted to play DMC 1 and 3 but never had any way to do it, I couldn't care less about minor issued that don't affect the gameplay at all. So there, I will buy it.
At minute mark 8:33 there is a misplaced fire effect floating on the castle's window (just before Dante climbs the iconic spiral staircase)

This was not present in the PS2 (and the PS3/X360) as you can see here at minute mark 11:35

It's so weird. It's like they put that thing there to reproduce the sun's glow effect lol. Maybe the effect got broke on the coversion as well? If that's the case then that's REALLY cheap. But then again, it was not present in the PS3/X360 release, i double checked it. So what the hell?
The blood sprites are also very pixelated in this release. Here is a comparission:

At this point i'm just gonna cancel my purchase. It has nothing to do with the game being playable ot not. It's just that i don't think Capcom deserves my money when they igore quality control like that. Who knows how many more glitches can be found in DMC1, and even 2 or 3.
Maybe i'll remember buying it when modders fix these issues but as of now, i have better things to spend my money on.
As for the blood. It's pretty clear that it's always been very blocky, but now it's impossible to ignore at higher resolutions. This is a case of simply using what was already there and not updating it in any way to look good.
All we can hope at this point is that they don't half ass it by not patching it soon after launch. If none of it is fixed, I'll just torrent it.
I don't believe anyone would be locked at 1080p, do you perhaps mean 1920x1080?
Go ahead and buy it, but it is ill-advised to do so when you know there's issues with the game that were never there at launch on the PS2. Try to remember that.
1080p is 1920x1080. When 1080p is written anywhere, it's assumed that the aspect ratio is 16:9.
That mod did not fix everything and entails work 98% of the audience would not have the ability to do.
I did only say it fixed all performance issues but yes, sadly the sound engine (what I assume you mean by "audience") can't be fixed. But if you're willing to buy the HD collection which will also have broken audio... I mean... what exactly would make you NOT want to buy the new port? It seems like it looks better, as the bloom, lighting and shadows effects are working properly in the new port, but it already has audio problems the original PC port didn't have.

This isn't a technical forum. For most consumers, 1080p = 1920x1080.
