I don't blame you, this PC port of the HD collection is only really worth it for the mods.

Emulating the PS2 versions, or maybe the Switch version of DMC3 are the best ways to play, if you aren't using mods.

its worse then i thought its my fault 100% but i went to next mission while grinding so it just dumped all my playtime just because i beat the ♥♥♥♥♥ out of its boss like a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ angry child it stole my progress and basically robbed me of orbs i wana rip my hard drive out give it a bath in gasoline light it on fire and piss it out. ♥♥♥♥ this game......welp back too it. :(
Yeah if you want to make sure to keep your grinding orbs you need to Manually, hit the Menu button, but bring up the Pause menu "Not the Inventory Menu", but the one that makes the screen tint Red, and then you can Save your game at any time. It'll save your progress in terms of Items collected, used, upgrades bought, everything that isn't the actual mission progress, that you start over when you load, but you'll keep everything else.

Down side is it'll also save your ranking stats I think, so if you are grinding for too long an S rank impossible unless you can some how manage to Never take damage a single time.

S ranks are Determined, by Time taken, Red Orbs, and Damage taken btw. Plus a small bonus to your rank from beating secret missions.

in the grand scheem i lost like 3 early game levels of progress not the end of the world just man i got a temper it took everything not to wake the entire neighborhood up in rage and just take it from the game im going to ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ this game by beating it so hard.
DMC1 can be brutal, but in the end it's all worth it. I've been playing DMC games since 2008, and while most people love DMC3 the most, and fair enough it's also a masterpiece. DMC1 is a game I just keep coming back to, and It's become my Favourite game ever, tied with Ninja Gaiden Black.
