How does Dante have the amulet in DMC1?

At the end of DMC 3 Virgil takes the other half of the amulet and says the iconic line "This belongs to a son of Sparda!" before falling into the demon world, unseen by Dante until the Nelo fight. What I find odd is that at the start of DMC 1 Dante suddenly has his amulet again. Is this just a weird plot hole that I shouldn't think about because of the order these games released or was it explained in something I don't know about like the DMC 3 manga?

I think you're right. I just re-watched the cutscene and the amulet he picks up is gold not silver, mb

When Arkham is defeated, Vergil throws Dante's amulet to him in cutscene.And he fight with Dante for the other part.
