Capcom need to remaster DMC2
Devil May Cry 2 certainly left a lot to be desired when it was first released. For fans of the franchise, it was a significant departure from the fast-paced and stylish action they had come to love in the original game. The combat felt lackluster, the level design uninspiring, and the overall gameplay experience was far from what Devil May Cry was known for. However, these very shortcomings are precisely why a high-quality remake could be justified. It offers a unique opportunity to revisit and rectify the game's mistakes, bringing it up to par with the standards set by the series. By revamping the combat system, introducing more variety in missions and enemies, and giving the narrative the attention it deserves, a remake could breathe new life into Devil May Cry 2, making it a more respectable entry in the franchise. With updated visuals and sound etc.. it could also help the game finally meet modern gaming standards, thereby appealing to both dedicated fans who were initially disappointed and a new generation of gamers who might not have experienced the original's shortcomings. In essence, a remake of Devil May Cry 2 has the potential to redeem the game and ensure it no longer stands as a subpar entry in an otherwise beloved series. :DMCJester1:

You don't remaster (let alone remake) games like DMC2, for one simple reason: there is no point in investing money in a name that has zero marketing value.

Even if it gets "fixed" in some way, most people just don't want do go around something that has that name (some of my friends even have their PTSD triggered just by hearing that name, I'm serious).
Also, there would be so much things to change to make DMC 2 a good game, that you are better off using the good ideas that were in that game to create another one.

Said differently, how many people would buy a "fixed" DMC 2? Not much. If they remake it, and change all that don't work inside that game, there is so much to change that it wouldn't even make sense to call it DMC 2. Not only because it would be a totally different game, but also because having that name might hurt the sales a lot.

In other words, the name "DMC 2: Remake" has way less marketing value than "DMC 6" or "DMC 0", and even if some or most of your ideas come from DMC 2, its sales potential is way higher if you simply don't name it DMC 2.

Yes, I said three times the same thing.

And actually, that's exactly what they did. Some concepts in DMC5 come directly from DMC2, and even how the story is built is very similar. Some music tracks in DMC2 are (remixed) in DMC3.
Instead of puting money on something that most don't want, they salvaged what they could from DMC2.

And you know what? I'm actually one of the few people that defend DMC 2 and its qualities, while encouraging people to at lest try it once. But let's be honest, there is nothing to fix about it. There is nothing to remake here. Only some ideas to salvage.

Even if they were to remake some ideas, parts or even everything in DMC 2, you can be certain that not only they wouldn't call it a "DMC 2: Remake" but they will make sure to avoid making any reference to that game.
