Saving in Devil May Cry HD Collection on Steam is completely broken.

First off, this only affects anyone that bought and played DMC HD Collection before May 2020. Before May 2020, DMC HD Collection had Steam Cloud support. You can see this in the image linked below and on SteamDB [steamdb.info]

For some reason, they updated the app to disable Steam Cloud support. Maybe on accident, maybe on purpose, I don't know. What they forgot to do was wipe everyone's cloud saved files. When they disabled Steam Cloud, they also disabled the end user's ability to disable Steam Cloud manually. Now, your cloud save will always download. Every time you install DMC HD, every time you launch DMC HD, it will always download. What it won't do is upload any new saves to the cloud.

So here's what happens now: I launch the game in 2023 and have my fun, maybe complete a mission or a Bloody Palace run then close the game and the save stays. Nothing from my 2023 save uploads to the cloud. The next time I run the game, my save file that's still stored on the cloud from 2020 downloads to my PC, overwriting that last session I played. What does this effectively do? It prevents me from continuing to progress through DMC HD Collection. I can run it and play, but I can't continue my save. And as stated earlier, Capcom disabled the end user's ability to disable Steam Cloud manually so it always syncs as soon as you run the game.

I have been trying to get the attention of Steam and Capcom support for years now and both just keep passing me over to the other. Valve says it's up to Capcom to fix this and Capcom says it's up to Valve. Can I get some help for this? It's clear getting support to help doesn't actually do anything and the only thing that gets results is public outcry.

It work's perfectly good for me, i bought it like a week ago cca. I mean yeah sometime it lag bad but cloud save's work normally for me. I don't know if it's different when you have this game installed on computer or on external card. If anyone is curious, i have DMC HD Collection installed on external card :-)

I installed the game at Dec 2020 and I still don't have Steam Cloud Saves on the AppStorage link. Best I can do is to manually backup on Google Drive/external flash drive.
