I liked DMC2 at first, but the more I play it, the more painful to play it becomes. Watching a playthrough is way more fun. Some settings/backdrops and ideas are kinda nice. But the game as a whole... ugh... a chore to play.
DMC 3
DMC 4
DMC 1
DMC 2
As mentioned by another, DMC Devil May Cry doesn't count. It's an abomination that never should have been made and I will never consider it real or even in existence; much like post Disney Star Wars...
DMC3 as good as it is has some very poorly designed enemies and levels like the bats that disappear to waste the players time or the flying angel things that are just damage sponges that are hard to hit. Also you have levels like the rotating tower that feels like a chore to play.
DMC5 is more spectacle fighter but the AI is too predictable and the combat is way too easy. Levels are more generic go from A-B and it doesn't tell much of a story like the levels in DMC1 where you can interact with the environment. My main gripe is that it's too easy to throw out moves and you don't feel like you constantly have to react to things like DMC1.
In short Kamiya had the best game design for DMC. Sound effects are more crunchy, combat really tests the player also Dante has a much better design, the later games tried too hard to make him cool and the gothic look works much better than the cowboy look.
The irony of this statement. You do realize that just as he is entitled to have an opinion about it counting, we are ALSO entitled to ours about it not? Might wanna climb down from that high horse buddy.
Stating something as a fact (implying other must share the same opinon or else they are wrong) doesn't make it an opinion. It just show how full of themselves people are.
Yeah, I don't think you understand what opinion means. Opinions do not have to be fact but can be stated with the same tenacity. Either way, our opinion of it being a steaming pile of horse droppings that never should have seen the light of day, is just as valid of his who thought it was, and your opinion that our opinions are somehow not opinions. See, your wrong, but your still entitled to your opinion. Hope you didn't get hurt getting knocked off that high horse.
If there is some joke hidden here I didn't get it.
People that played DMC back in the day didn't care much about story, but about how hard DMC series were known for.
DMC1 was hard with good difficulty options, DMC2 is easy as hell because people complained of how hard DMC1 was for the day and DMC3 is the HARDEST of the initial trilogy. Even in Normal difficulty you can sweat a lot in some sections.
That's why DMC3 (together with Dante "bad ass" attitude in it's peak) is S tier for many DMC fans.
Personally, 1 is the best, 2 was OK, 3 had the best combat and variety of them all for the day.
The only exception is that DMC3 has some horrible enemies that DMC1 doesn't have like the spiders and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Chess, and some painful bosses like DMD Cerberus and Arkham
