How to choose Vergil in DMC 3?

I'm a bit confused bc I'm pretty sure I've tried every button to choose him after I hit new game but it won't work. Do you have to beat the game as Dante first? If so is there a way around that?

Indeed, you need to beat the game as Dante first but yeah, there is a cheat code to unlock Vergil right away.

I just wanted to play as vergil. Only my hard drive says I haven't beaten it as dante but I did many years ago lol

If you don't wan't to beat the game as Dante first it's your choice, but can't you do a simple research on the internet by yourself? Is it that hard?

L1+L2+R1+R2 + D-pad Right/Down + Left analog Up/left on the title screen

Took me two minutes to find it and make sure it works.

Also, your hard drive doesn't speak.

I guess it just speaks to me. I had looked it up but did not know if that applied to this version still.

Except that I didn't say anything about you asking a question that has been answered already. I actually didn't even say anything about your wish to skip "Dante" which is litteraly half part of the game. I know some people who would've laughed at you about that. I didn't even asked you why you wanted to do that.
