Is it okay to skip DMC2?

I've been playing DMC 1, 3, and 4 a lot recently but I've been looking past DMC 2 because of all the criticisms I see of it online, it sounds like a boring nightmare. I was just wondering if I would be missing anything if I skipped it.

DMC2 has no plot relevance whatsoever. DMC5 has a full story recap going across all four games, and sums it up like this:

Dante was powerful and unstoppable.

As someone who never played the DMC series before I decided to give 2 a chance; after all many of my favorite games are considered ******* by everyone else so I'll rather experience the thing by myself.
So far it has been such a worse game than 1 it's not even funny.

I just finished 2 for the very fist time.
Feel free to skip it unless you have morbid curiosity about how bad can a sequel of a beloved game can get.

Just finished Dante disk and while he is super sexy in his DMC2 outfit, the game is almost garbage: only 1 melee weapon and just 3 skins for it, clunky fights and even cool dodge button doesnt help to make them as good as even in DMC1, horrible level design, bad voice acting, zero story. I like some music though, especially in the time god statue menu.

You can literally just juggle and kill enemies with guns. A lot of the ideas were cool, but the execution was so terribad that I simply can't recommend anybody play it other than for the memes.

On a slightly related note, I don't think I'd mind seeing these games get remade in the same fashion as Resident Evil. DMC1 and DMC2 could really benefit from it, especially 2.

There is some truth on this because you should decide by yourself and simply play the game if you're curious about it; a lot of universally reviled games are some of my favorite games ever.

Don't skip DMC2, but don't finish it if you aren't enjoying it.
