How many missions are in DMC 1 and 2?
They honestly feel like a chore to get through, and I'm not one to skip games unless its absolutely not worth the time

DMC1 is fairly short, but a blast once you get a little practice. It's worth playing through despite it feeling a little slow for a start, just give it another go. It's a little shorter than you might expect, but definitely still a decent length.

DMC2 is... mercifully short, I guess. I believe it's 13 missions for Dante and 9 for Lucia. It's not a good game, but DMC5 takes place after the entire series, so I guess it's worth playing. If there's any game to skip, it's probably this one.

I hate a lot of the boss battles and mini fights on DMC 1 but if thats what you say about 2 than it has to be way worse in that game. Thanks for the advice and heads up

They do get better... but you need to use the DT well. LB is a sort of rage mode that gives you a monumental damage increase, resistance to damage, and even a small amount of regenerating health. Make sure not to buy items in the store, either; one shot items are just a waste, while blue and purple orbs or new abilities will help you actually make progress.

It took me a few tries to get into the game as well, but arguably 1 is the best in the series.

What you'll find with 2 is that "chore" is a perfect definition. Guns have been buffed to oblivion and the combo system has been messed with in ways that don't make sense. Many of the bosses are pretty much ranged-only, and it's an entire game based around holding/mashing X.

DMC1 can be beaten in less than 2 hours if you know what you're doing.
A couple of tips: Learn the critical hit system. It allows you to insta kill specific enemy types ( http://devils-lair.org/dmc1enemies.php )
Buy vortex and meteor as soon as possible. Vortex 2 especially offers iframes for almost its entire duration and Metor deals a ton of damage when charged.
Cancel the reload animations of the grenade launcher with rolls. That way you can easily build up a load of DT from a safe distance

It's more like 16 missions for Dante and 13 for Lucia, but I can agree some mission are just a boss fight.

DMC1 is 23 missions. DMC2 is 18 missions for Dante, 13 missions for Lucia. These are the exact numbers.

Beat DMC1 as it's a really a good game and absolutely worth the time. Skip 2 if you want to, it's the worst game in the series and if you care about plot, DMC2's does not matter for the games after.

I enjoyed DMC2.
