At least that's what I can remember from back in April.
since every PC is pre-equipped with the Xbox 360 controller driver, it's only a given that we'd have Xbox buttons instead.

It's not a given. Since 2015, there have been dozens of games on PC with DS4 icons. Steam even has officiall suport.
No promises on when it will be complete.
So it knows. Then Steam now has native support, for quite awhile now. Many games since 2015 have PS4 icons on Steam. Dozens of them.
