It's one of the things I tried to do after someone asked me about it, but the game generates those button icons in a way that isn't a normal texture. With Special K you can dump some textures that contain buttons among other things, but they aren't used in any part of the games.

At least that's what I can remember from back in April.

well, this IS a microsoft operating system, and that series isn't PS exclusive ya' know.
since every PC is pre-equipped with the Xbox 360 controller driver, it's only a given that we'd have Xbox buttons instead.

DMC 1-3 were exclusive to PlayStation, aye.

It's not a given. Since 2015, there have been dozens of games on PC with DS4 icons. Steam even has officiall suport.

I haven't messed around with SpecialK at all, but before I had a brief hiatus I was working on a Dualshock mod. I may look into any SpecialK texture replacement options if they will work for DMC 1 and 2; otherwise, I have a complete mod ready for the launcher and a half-finished mod for DMC3SE.

No promises on when it will be complete.

Computers aren't pre-installed with xinput drivers, IIRC only Windows 8 and above come with xinput drivers.

There's a native DS4 driver pre-installed with Windows regardless. A fresh install of Windows, plug a DS4 in and Windows will recognize it as "Wireless Controller", but if you go to the info box it will say Sony PlayStation Controller

So it knows. Then Steam now has native support, for quite awhile now. Many games since 2015 have PS4 icons on Steam. Dozens of them.
