How to unlock hard mode in DMC2?

Did the first playthru with Dante and unlocked a costume but the hard difficulty doesnt show up.
Help?

You need to beat BOTH Dante and Lucia's stories to unlock hard difficulty.
Same here, You need to beat both of them again on hard difficulty to unlock DMD/LMD difficulty

sounds like a bug? I beat normal with both and unlocked Hard

You got bugged, because the dude is not lying. In fact you just need to finish both story modes to get the hard mode unlocked
