I don't know, DMC 3 was pretty much the greatest thing I've experienced as a 12 year old, because I loved edgy badass characters, and Dante exceeded all my expectations. Not to mention Vergil, who is still my all time favorite character. Combat was also damn good, and cutscenes were fun to watch.



Although I'll say, I heavily prefer Devil May Cry 1's atmosphere because of gothic castles and all. That was awesome, and I hope DMC 5 will have similar one.

DMC 1 is better as an action/adventure game, due to its atmosphere. I've only first played DMC 1 in the HD collections (like, last year), and it was an amazing experience despite its age!

DMC 3 is better as a pure action (combat) game.

I look forward to playing DMC 1 again; I probably prefer 1 to 3 too, but they're both excellent in what they're trying to do (they just happen to do very different things; I don't even consider them to be in the same genre)

I also felt the same with Ninja Gaiden Black, which was DMC 1's to Ninja Gaiden II's DMC 3 (if that makes sense).

You bring an interesting point, DMC1 still had some survival elements left from when it was going to be Resident Evil 4.

BTW, pardon me ma curiosity, but why do everybody hates separate Steam port of DMC3 SE? I played it long time ago, but didn't have any technical issues I heard 'bout. Of course it's not wide-screen and you cannot exit it properly, and some folks complained 'bout dat Style Switcher thingie which I personally don't need (kinda okay with playing the gaem by original rules with use of only one style at time).

Also, has anyone noticed it went the same price as original DMC4? Dunno in dollars, but in rubbles it's 529.

They only thing I don't like about DMC3 is how much of a damage sponge/punching bag the enemies are. DMC1 your attacks feel like they have impact on enemies where as in DMC3 they're just for amusement.

DMC3 just has more to offer in terms of depth and it's an objective step up in gameplay. I consider it top of the genre along with Ninja Gaiden Black and God Hand.

I love both but 3 has Vergil, probably the most op character in a game ever, his gameplay was insane and I just love katana users so I replayed each difficulty like crazy back then.

I prefer action over exploration so 1 felt kinda slow for me but I still enjoyed and loved it as much as 3.

Maybe it sounds better in Japanese or something, but in English combined with the way his girly boy voices cracks. It just made me burst into laughter when I first played it.
