DMC 1 Easier?? (On normal)
Im not sure if its because i played quite some DMC3 and 4, but I remember DMC1 being alot tougher? I expected the lava spider and shadow panther to bust my balls in once again, but i even got past Nelo Angelo on my first try, without going down even once?

Normal is quite easy if you're familair with the game. Only DMD is a real challenge.

I'm tempted to play it on an emulator to compare, but that's just too much work.

I remember the PS2 version being harder, but it could have just been the fact that I was worse at the game back then.

I'm not 100% on this but I think DMC1 may have been a bit harder with it's NTSC version then other parts of the world. This version of the game was based on the Japanese version of DMC1, so it may actually be a touch easier on Normal mode.

And no i'm not thinking of DMC3 it happend to both 1 and 3.

I replayed DMC1 on emulator recently and the original isn't any harder than the HD Collection version. The only difficulty I had during emulation was caused by input lag lol.

Well I know for a fact, in the orginal Japanese release you weren't able to preform critcal attacks on enemies on Hard mode. where in the US release you were. since the (2013) HD collection was based on the Japanese release you also could not do critcal attacks on hard mode. this made the getting all the Enemy Files for the achievements a bit of a pain since you could only get some of them durring normal mode.

Game is a lot easier than DMC3, but still challenging.

When it comes to Dante Must Die mode, I would say DMC1 is harder to cheese unless you have a clearly plan set from a new game normal, in DMC1 you have to already know you should be saving up untouchables and holy waters to cheese DMD, in DMC3 you can go back and replay levels to get orbs to buy as many items as you like to cheese DMD.

Playing them both no items on DMD, I think the challenge is pretty close. when you compair
DMD Mundus to DMD Vergil. neither of them are going to pull any punches.

You can replay normal mode several times to stock up untouchables...I remember back in the day I could beat DMD because I went having 25 of them XD

Yes you could replay normal, but like I said you have to already know that before comitting to DMD, I suspect many people only use one save file their first time playing the game, so when they bump it to DMD they could lose the chance to go back to Normal. So the choice is go all the way back and start from scratch so you can prepair, or push though DMD with only what you already have.

Indeed, and you COULDNT play normal a second time unless you beat hard first.

Perhaps this might explain it, because i remember DMC1 being incredibly tough, much harder then DMC3SE. (Or at least the first half of the game.) And with this collection, DMC3s difficulty is what i expected from it while DMC1 can still be challenging but it's nowhere near as hard as i remember it.

...or maybe it's because i played DMC1 with a Resi mindset or something :3 I think il have to dig up my PS2 sometime to see.
