Achievements?
Does it really matter anymore? Its just released and apparently 13% of the buyers seem to have unlocked the rarest ones already. Achievements on steam has really become a joke.

Since when did achievements matter?

I mean sure, if I can, I'll try to get them, but it's nothing game changing.

Some people use programs to auto unlock all achievements, which is why sometimes when a game releases you check the achievements and see the hardest achievements aren't very rare at all, but then a few days later when more people have bought the game there will be a lesser percentage of players with those same achievements.

I thought the same thing a while ago when FF XII released where a good percentage of players already had the achievement for completing all other achievements, in just one day, but now that achievement is at 0.6%.

I used my twitch save and some achievement got unlocked at some point, but not all. Exemple: I unlocked the 10 000 red orb just by grabbing and orb, but it doesn't even count I beat the game twice in my save.
Some are cheating though.

Sometimes devs/beta testers aren't reset at release, so there's already a number of people with 100% completion immediately. Well and there's always the cheaters, yeah.

Using a previous save is okay, but most use cheats like sam, and cheap achievements rich games to unlock these and that is annoying.
Yeah achievements dont really matter but its annoying for a completetionist to see people using cheats like its a common thing. Well uck it.

Cheaters can unlock achievements easily on consoles too. I think the only one that cares and ban cheaters is Microsoft. They permabanned lots of idiots who cheated like that.

Told you, the rarest achievement is now at 0.4%.

Man just look through the list, half the people with 100 % have like 1 hour playtime I mean they obviously used SAM.

Nobody cares about achievements. Microsoft cared about them because upon reaching certain gamer scores, as an incentive, they included rewards. Obviously they'd punish gamer score cheating.

I do achievements too and I play to reach an AVG of 100 % but do you really think there's ever going to be someone who will visit my profile and be like "woah, this dude's got 100% he's so cool" and other then the hope of recognition, what does it matter? Just like nobody cares about your achievements and nobody will ever search for you on some weird achievements ranking site unless it's to defame you because they want to call you out for cheating.

Just play, enjoy the game, unlock what you like but do it for yourself. Because in the real world, no one else cares.

On the PC, it means nothing. You can just download a trainer and have the "Super" costumes right off the bat, without the drawbacks such as DmC's solution of lowering the total score.

Depending on the game, I still go for them. With the HD collection, I'd like to 100% it, but it all depends on how fun I'll have. With DMC2 and DMC3, I am definitely going to give myself infinite DT, and get those achievements that way. Not fun to do it any other way, but it's still a "challenge" I want to go for.

My rationale is, don't worry about the achievements with exception to your own. If you do it all legitimate, and even ignore in-game items like untouchables... then the enjoyment you got out of it is what matters.

The sole purpose of a game is to have fun. If you cheat to play the game, in other words, if you change the rules and make the game different to have fun, then there is nothing wrong with it.

As long as it doesn't involve other people obviously.
