PSA: Higher Resolutions and Speed Fix for 144Hz Users
A few issues have come to my attention almost immediately with the port. Overall, it's a bit basic, but it gets the job done. As long as you have a controller (100% REQUIRED), DMC is finally on PC in a port that runs well, plays well, and overall just gives you the classic experience with an unlocked* resolution.

* But only unlocked a little bit

FIXING FRAMERATE ISSUES
This game DOES have a 60 FPS lock. If you are on a 144Hz monitor, however, keep in mind that the following will override it:
  • Windows Aero (Windowed mode and Borderless mode will force the game to 144 FPS)
  • Nvidia GSync (turn this off in your Nvidia Control Panel)
  • AMD FreeSync (same as GSync, but found in AMD Settings)

So... play in Fullscreen mode with GSync and FreeSync disabled if you run a 144Hz monitor, at least for the time being.
RivaTuner:
If you absolutely CAN NOT get the game to cap at 60 FPS, download MSi Afterburner and RivaTuner Statistics Server. This will allow you to force the game to stick to 60 FPS, regardless of your refresh rate.

ULTRA HD AND SUPERSAMPLING
"But this game is capped to 1920x1080 for no reason!"

Yes... no reason at all. This game handles 4K like a champ, so I've got no clue why it's capped to begin with.

The launcher for this game will not scroll past 1920x1080, but it WILL accept values higher than this. Even better, should it *somehow* get turned to, let's say, 3840x2160, it won't do a thing to change it... unless you change it again. You can even modify other options, and the resolution will stay the same!

  1. Open up <your Windows username>\Documents\My Games\Devil May Cry HD Collection.
  2. Find options.sav and open it with a Text Editor. Notepad++, perhaps?
  3. Find "width" and "height." By default, these values are set to "1920" and "1080" respectively. Change them as you see fit. For example, 1440p would be "2560" and "1440" while 4K would be "3840" and "2160".
  4. Ctrl-S to save your changes.
Enjoy your PS2 game running with the wonders of 2018's not-quite-cutting-edge-but-still-kinda-up-there display technology.

I wouldn't try this fix if you're worried about bugs. Personally, I haven't run into any issues related to this... but we'll see.

Hopefully this will help anyone on edge about the port, or anyone having issues at the moment. I've been playing the Twitch Prime release of DMC 1 HD and... wow. I was not expecting fixed-camera Resident Evil 4 with swords. But hey... I'm not complaining! I'm looking forward to playing the rest of the-- well, MOST of the rest of the series.

I hope they fix the adaptive sync issue, I am not willing to into settings constantly to disable and enable Gsync. Call me an entitled PC gamer I guess. Also editing the config file to run the game at 2560x1440 works.

Personally, I'm only going on hearsay with that. I have a FreeSync monitor, but my graphics card is *just* old enough to be missing support... so I haven't tested it myself. FreeSync used to cause flickering on the desktop back when I was on an R7 360, so I'm used to switching it on/off constantly at this point.

Have you tried using RivaTuner Statistics Server yet? You may be able to force 60 FPS that way, even with Adaptive Sync.
