You can only buy 7 purple orbs (you start with 3 devil trigger, after buying 7 purple orbs, you end up with the max devil trigger amount of 10).
Base(3) + Consumable Purple orbs(7) = Max(10)
Similar goes with blue orbs but I'm not sure about the amounts, I know the base length is 6 and the maximum is 20:
Base(6) + Consumable Blue Orbs/Fragments + Secret Mission Blue Fragments/Orbs = Max(20).
Yellow orbs go from 350
So technically you can't buy infinite purple/blue orbs.
The other items have a limited amount you can own in your inventory, but I don't think they raise their price.
On DMC1 you can only have 1 Untouchable, 10 Devil Stars, 5 Holy Water and 1 Vital Star. Well tbh you can have more if you gather: If you already have, let's say, 10 devil stars and gather 2, you'll end up with 12 devil stars. This only works on DMC1 tho, as on DMC3 dante refuses to get them.
Yeah I know about the limits on blue and purple orbs/orb fragments, I was more interested in knowing if there was a limit for the stuff like holy water, devil stars, etc. (items that can be consumed and disappear) or if you can purchase them infinitely as long as you have the dosh.
But now that you mention it, any difference in dmc games is interesting to note.
