There wasn't a physical copy for the western release of DMC4SE so, probably not.

According to Polygon

"Capcom’s new Devil May Cry HD Collection will be released March 13, 2018, both digitally and at retail for $29.99."

Don't get your hopes up, they could mean retail for consoles only, it is often the case.
And we can't really say Capcom has been very talkative about this re-release.

Edit: At the end of the trailer, we can clearly see the retail boxes for PS4 and Xbox One. No physical boxes for PC I assume.

What's the point? Both PC and consoles can have a digital one, so why would only consoles get a physical copy, while PC players get a middle finger?

How does it even work? "Uhh yeah, we'll also make physical copies, but uhh... Don't make ones for PC users, ♥♥♥♥ them."

Because even if they make physical copies, the game would download through steam, so the boxes will only contain a game code. And considering only a few pc users like to keep empty physical boxes, they won't start manufacturing and deliver thousands of empy boxes, it's not worth it.

I had a similar case with Just Cause 2, but the disc was still there. It installed through Steam, obviously by using a code from the box, and everything was just fine.

Couldn't they do the same thing?

Me too, with Darksiders. They were 2 DVDs in the box, they were both full, but I never could instal the game directly from the discs, I was forced to download everything through steam, which was stupid though.

I really don't understand this obsession with physical copies. Isn't just owning the game enough? It is for me. I mean, I still own the original PS2 discs but that's because they're PS2 games originally and that needs to be preserved, but for current releases? Current games? Why bother with discs and boxes. Because it looks nice on the shelf? How often do you sit down to stare at your shelf? It just doesn't make any sense to me to really want a physical copy when a digital copy is just as functional. It's a game, not a painting. Now there's an argument that would convince me; if every physical copy came with a painting or a poster? Now we're talking. Otherwise it's pretty pointless.

Couldn’t agree more.
I might add one thing, I own more than a thousand games on steam. Where could have I put all those boxes?

In my case, I don't have any kind of disk reader in my PC. Wouldn't be able to do anything with DVD's even if I wanted to.

i also dont have a cd reader, but i just recently started collecting ohysicals and its awesome. i find joy in actually having it, plus on top of that, you actually get 2 in 1 because you get the game discs and you get a code, so you enter that code thru here and redeem it and it basically acts digital. I have done this for about 30 successfully.

These are just gaming tastes. Most old school gamers still wants boxes, and also there are people who believes you really don't own any digital purchase you make and that you will eventually lose it.

I personally like both, I will get this collection physical because it's one of my fav series and gotta wait for the pc port review-sales.

Also, a lot of physical special/limited editions have lots of cool worth stuff nowadays.

I was born in 1988 and I don't give a ♥♥♥♥ about game boxes. Still own a Mega Drive and most of the game cartridges I own no longer have their boxes or manuals. It's not the box that adds value to the game, it's the game itself and while I could stick to emulation, it's not the same. Point is, these games are from a different era altogether. Having the physical copy makes sense.

Current games are widely distributed in digital format and it's also cheaper that way. Owning or wanting to own a box for every single recent/current game you downloaded is stupid.

I also love Devil May Cry since 2001 but remember: this HD collection is not comprised of the original game releases. Furthermore it won't mean much if it's broken at launch and doesn't get fixed ever, which is what will more than likely happen. This is Capcom and that's how they've treated Devil May Cry for 10 years now.

Also, name ten "special/limited editions" that have "lots of cool worth stuff" that have been released in recent memory that are worth the exorbitant price of ownership of a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ videogame you'll play for, at best, a month.
