No 4:3 monitors support?

I am using 4:3 monitor with resolution 1280x1024. And in the game, even if I set resolution to 1280x1024, the image in menus and in the game too looks, well, "narrow". Please see the screenshots.

Can something be done about that? Or there is no hope..?

Try following this guide, but place your native resolution in the config instead.

thanks for the answer, but unfortunately this doesn't work. The thing is - it is possible to set 1280x1024 in the game itself (and in the config file, the correct resolution is already set), but the game, for some reason, still recognises the monitor as 16:9 or something.
The only solution is to play in a window, 1280x700. Oh well.

Try 1024x768.
